So I had been trying to turn one of those fakie unicorns into a custom- sculpted some wings and got her all air-brushed

She now has long lusterous locks, but the paint had some rough edges, and when I tried to pull up the buckled paint, it ended up coming off her face completely like a huge skin.
Wondering if there is some kind of oil or something in the pony's plastic that is making the paint have a difficult time sticking to her. Have any of you had this problem? Wonder if sanding would help- or maybe I should have sprayed her with Testors Dulcote before painting?
Honestly I'd ditch her in favor of a G4 bait, but since I've already put an entire mane of rainbow hair into her, I'd like to fix her if I can. However, it seems a bit stupid to keep putting work into her if her skin is just going to peel off.
Stupid cheap fakie plastic.... any advice? Any experience with this ?
