Have you ever lucked out on Craigslist/Kijiji?
« on: September 11, 2013, 09:42:57 AM »
So, once again I checked Craigslist and found ponies! ...in another city!  It's never quite in Missoula, always in another town, or a neighboring state! (At least it's just a G3 lot, not something I'll absolutely die without.)

Anyway, I've yet to have luck on Craigslist. I guess all my pony luck went to thrifting. But I know some of you guys have found fantastic pony lots on there before. Care to share your stories of joy or woe?  :awake:

I've never found ponies in Craigslist actually. Now I'm too afraid to look. Someone in the area has been calling adds, meeting people and then robbing them.

I have occasionally found ponies on CL. However they've been few and far between the last 2 years...

 That's awful! Yeesh, I thought the problems with people getting hurt from Craigslist were over.

I once got like 30 G3s for $20 ^.^ The lady had other large groups of G3s but at the time I didn't have much spending money.

I lucked out once! I was in TN at the time, but the seller ended up being on the other side of the state. I asked if she would mind mailing them to me instead of meeting and I'd pay extra for the shipping. She was so nice and did mail them to me. I paid $15 for this lot:

Very nice original curls on Goldilocks and Sugar Apple, and 4 of those petites are the Glowing Magic ones that are worth about $20 each. Pretty sweet deal!

There was one other lot I found on CL where they had around 100 G1 ponies. I had contacted them and made an offer, which they accepted and I was just waiting to hear back about what day to meet. After a couple more emails, they finally answered and said they'd sold the lot to someone else (most likely to someone who offered more). They sent me a pic of a few fakies that the other person didn't want and asked if I wanted those ones. I was SO angry! They could have at least let me know they'd been offered more and given me the chance to go higher or something, instead they just didn't get back to me until I had sent them several emails about what day/time we were meeting. Jerks. All well, at least I had one good CL experience. ;)

Aww, that's a shame Avene. I hope they get back to you soon.

Nice lot Teddy! Shame about the other one though.

Lots of times! :) I always meet people in a public place, people mostly get robbed while selling/buying electronics, not ponies :P So I dont worry too much.

I got my Dream Castle (with most of the accessories) with a few ponies including a lovely FF Snuzzle, and a couple G3s for $25. Actually I gave her an extra $5 because I got a really nice deal.

I also got my G3 Crystal Rainbow Castle plus two of the ponies that came with it, a few other G3s and a couple G1s for $30. Not too bad considering I love the castle for display purposes.

:(  I would love to help out my fellow Calgarians  and I have been posting large parts of my collection on Kijiji but so far, very few responses.  The people I have met have been really sweet though, even if a bit weirded out by my enthusiasm... :-p

I've also scored a great deal of amazing pony lots myself on the site as well... so maybe it's a good thing there aren't many of us collectors about!  :-p  We'll have to hold a meet someday...
