Antlered Pony
« on: January 11, 2014, 12:21:32 PM »
I pulled out my Fakie G4 FS to find her already leaking plasticiser? I don't know, she's not actually sticky as far as I can tell, but she has some nasty discolouration and is definitely hardening... so I decided to customise her! But I wasn't really in the FBR, re-hairing, or sculpting mood. I did have some rather unusual art supplies to use though.  ;)

So, long story short, I gave her antlers. I shaved off bits of her neck plug to glue around the base so they looked more like they were growing out of her, a bit messy but I like it. She's far from my best custom, but for a quickie I like her.

BONUS: Can you guess what I made her antlers out of?

Hints:
1) What's my occupation?
2) My Mother finds this particularly creepy
3) No animals were harmed in the making of this custom

2) My Mother finds this particularly creepy

I think it's rather ingenious.  I wanted to use my cat's whiskers in some art but my Mom also thought it gross/creepy.  Maybe it's a Mom thing.  Nice job, though, I like it.
Thank you to SquarePeg for my beautiful avi.

Yep, dog claws! The poor dog I clipped them off of probably hadn't had them trimmed in at least a year, I was amazed at their length and had to keep them just in case they inspired some art.

Thanks!

Oh this is neat and she is very cute with antlers. I love recycling. :D

Re: cat whiskers - my mom thought it was a great idea. Just pick up a loose cat whiskers and you have a fine detail "brush", if you add a handle of some kind. Whiskers can be useful. :D

She's really cute and the idea to use nail clippings is cool too. I'm undecided if I find it gross or not but it's a cool idea. lol. ^^

To be honest even I find it kind of gross, even after cleaning the claws they still have a faint but distinct smell about them, haha :P

They look really cool and the natural materials really do look like antler!  And hey, recycling is always a good thing right?  Since I've been making custom ponies more I often see things and think "how could I use that in a custom..." It's good to see I'm not alone :lookround:
