Off Topic / Re: Coronavirus info, facts & updates

In Spain we have been in state of alarm since Saturday with more than 11k cases and 500 dead. No one can leave their homes except to buy food and medicine. The police can fine if they see two or more people together on the street or in the car.

I think the government has been slow to act because for weeks there have been many sick people, especially  in Madrid, where there are more number of people infected, and many from there fled the capital to go to other areas of the country infecting more people. Some politicians have tested positive for the virus, including the president's wife.

Some supermarkets are rationalizing the amount of products you can take because there are people who hoarded a lot and left others unable to buy anything. We will be like this for 15 days, but I'm sure it will extended for another 15 days.

Can't understand the hype on the Takara ponies though. I saw one on a Japanese sale site for 250,000 yen this morning. This is what Western obsession has done to the price market, as they used to be much cheaper there - but it's all because people in the West are nuts enough to spend four figures on them and the Japanese have learned as much. Even as someone who speaks Japanese, loves Japan and Japanese culture/history/etc, I think they're ugly little moomins and hugely overrated and overpriced.

Pretty much what happened with other "nirvana" ponies. I can only speak in the case of Spain. Most collectors here cannot afford the current prices Spanish ponies are sold, unless they are literally destroyed. It's cheaper buying ponies from abroad. And about piggies, I still don't understand how a doll that is for son long considered fake and ugly & had no value, people fight today and raise prices ridiculously and all because one day they discovered that it had the rainbow logo. Lipstick on a pig...

With the Flutterbye set thingy, in the Spanish/NC releases (Spanish/French cards) there are both the set with Moonstone instead of Starflower and then the ones with...no Flutterbye, but Starflower and I think maybe it's Parasol as the extra? I'd have to check my files.
Not sure about the French cards if the set were the same as Spain. The Rainbow ponies sold first in Spain were Trickles, Tickle, Confetti, Pinwheel, Starflower and Parasol. 2 years later the set was again sold but with Moonstone instead of Starflower and Blutterbye instead of Tickle. The funny thing is that the commercial aired here was abour the 1st wave, so only 2 of them were really available

There are quite some Spanish ponies or in Spanish box I don't have record a MOC/MOB has appeared yet. But there is an entire set/collection never seen a single one yet: the Windy Wings Ponies. Pretty sure the boxes are the same as UK. Ponies like the Birthday one and Princess Sparkle are a mystery too.

MLP Nirvana / Re: MOC Spanish Baby Moondancer - Seeking photo or info

I forgot I had actually a picture from a toy makers and manufacturers magazine that show an actual product image of the babies set with their accesories! So we can see what accesories came with Baby Moondancer. Is a rattle as I remembered from childhood.

This magazine is dated december 1988 but the image is possibly earlier since this magazine reused the same pictures for months and even years.

They named the set wronly as Party Ponies/Twice and Fancy Ponies (and vice versa )

Thanks for all your inputs :)

Its interesting thoiugh that the catalogue shows baby tiddlywinks as a bbe pony. Did the nursery come with the bbe, or is that just stock photo?
Its odd though that they reused baby bowtie and tiddlywinks for the carded set, and then throw in moondancer. I mean, it would make sense if they had just used playset Babies, but moondancer is an odd choice. And why didnt they choose any of the other from Moondancers set, like baby Firefly?

That is a stock photo. The nursey came with NC Baby Tiddlywinks. Spain never had any of the BBE babies.
There are only very few pictures MB made of the actual Spanish ponies, like the Rainbow, babies and first earth Ponies. The rest are stock photos from Hasbro Europe. We never had actual pictures of the Twice as Fancy ponies, for example, just the regular ones. I can imagine the confusion the kid could have when got one of these ponies and was in a different pose  :P. I have an example

Not sure if the Big Brothers picture is also Spanish with regular HK ones or is a stock image from Hasbro. It's not coincidence that only appears the 4 that were released here.

I find it very weird they used playsets babies for the baby line, too. That only leads customers no longer want the playset if can have only the pony xD But I think what happened was that MB had overstock of Baby BowTie, Baby Lemon Drop & Tiddly Winks so they just threw them in the baby line set. I think the same for Baby Moondancer, overstock of white baby unicorns.
Something similar happened for the Caricias set, i think. The stock picture shows Lemon Drop and Peachy as they are but their names are Agua Limón and Cupido, so I think they just used overstock CPs and changed the color

I think, Baby Firefly would have been a better choice. They had already a baby pegasus mold, and they only used it for Baby Heart Throb. Instead of 3 earth babies & 1 unicorn, I would have chosen Baby Cotton Candy, Baby Lemon Drop, Baby Moondancer and Baby Firefly. Similar to the others Play and Care sets from other countries. But as I suspect, everything is summarized in over stock.

That sounds reasonable. I have never seen baby LD with stroller in a spanish box, but I have seen in french and I have the english box, and I'm pretty sure it says made in spain on the box, so I assume they made her for other countries. Probably at the same time as the carded Babies in 87, if Bowtie came in 86. I guess they thought they didnt need her both on card and with stroller at the same time.

Another interesting thing is that France seems to have had both the HK and spanish baby Bowtie with stroller.

I think Spain made almost all the playsets for the European market, so I wouldn't be surprised Lemon Drop's stroller also came from here. I just don't know why they didn't released her with the stroller here instead of Baby BowTie, that would have been easier and less expensive  :wonder:

All the Spanish babies are marked Spain except for the Baby Cuddles pose (Tiddlywinks, Baby Bow Tie) & Baby Lemon Drop. Like the flutters, they have the same hand writting stamp.

The carded ones are dated 1987 as well as the Play and Care set ones & the nursery. All the babies came in the same year except first version Baby Bow Tie & the Stroller that was in 1986. Baby Lemon Drop & the Stroller was never sold in Spain.

Is there any picture of that Spain marked Baby Bow Tie? I had tons on my hands of both versions and never seen one non NC.

I know is not exactly your question but If you're interested to know, I haven't found evidence that Spain ever sold any sea ponies, nor adults or babies.

The only thing I've found that mentions them is this Newborn Ponies backcard, common to all Europe. But nothing in catalogs and such.

Good Weather is really clearly a U.K. release with that backstory - most of the U.S. wouldn't consider "eternal sun" good weather

But she is not just UK, she was sold in more European countries in fact
Yeah, but you guys in Spain call her Turista, right?

I actually don't know her name in other translations, but Good Weather is her English name and the UK isn't exactly famous for 'good weather'. Mind you right now it's quite sunny and this week is going to be hot. I think she must be lurking O.O.

Actually her Spanish name is Solete (somewhat translated to "Little Sun" but the meaning refers rather as someone that is a very good person). Turista is the name of the set per se. I think the set was called Holiday Pony in English?

Where I live is one of the sunniest areas not only of Spain but of Europe as well. I think she has made her permanent residence here, lol. (You can take her, I prefer rainy days )
