No problem at all—I hope the cleanup goes well and your ponies remain goo-free! :D

New to me, but I love the bright colors and theme! The accessories are also very cute... I wonder if I’m the only one who thinks G2s had the best playsets and accessories?

The distribution of BF ponies is so confusing... Didn’t they used to turn up at Walmarts all the time? Now it’s Meijers instead? It’s been so long since I actually went shopping, given the pandemic, that I have no idea what the local situation is. I wish more online retailers kept them stocked. :/

I’m glad to at least hear that another wave is planned! I’d still love to eventually see some seaponies. <3

Roughly about the size of collecta foals

Ooh, those are quite nice... I’m even more sad now to see them lose the Spirit license. I was browsing Mattel’s new line for “Spirit: Untamed”, and the horses are just... not... remotely horse-like. They have giant heads, sculpted plastic tails, and wonky anatomy in pretty much every department. It’s not even done in a cute, cartoony style... They just look gross and misshapen.

Case in point: Spirit the cheaply-airbrushed mutant donkey. DX

Formula 911 from Twin Pines was developed in part to combat plasticizer leakage in vinyl dolls, iirc. I’ve used it many times on G1s and never had any ill effects. It’s not caustic or nasty at all, and gets rid of all kinds of stickiness and ick. I can’t personally speak to its effectiveness on plasticizer, as I’ve never encountered the issue in my own herd, but I’ve heard it works very well.

Can you get this product in the UK?

Here’s Twin Pines’ shipping info page. :) It says they ship to “virtually any address in the world”, so I’m sure the UK will be fine. They do mention that there could be international shipping restrictions on some products, but since Formula 911 is one of their most gentle, eco-friendly products, I doubt it applies. I’d go ahead and place an order—they have great service and I’m sure they’d let you know up front if there were a problem. :)

Off Topic / Re: The trivial complaints thread

Two trivial complaints tonight (besides insomnia):

Firstly, my medication is drying my eyes out, and it’s getting to me.

Secondly... Funko made an error numbering one of their Pops, and my OCD just wants it corrected. XD How can I have a Popple and a Mr. Potato Head sitting next to each other on my shelf, BOTH with “02” written on the boxes! It’s MADNESS! :pullhair: Lol.

I wish they were more stylized since the anatomically isn't correct anyways

Pretty much this. Too stylized to fit with accurate horse models, but too pseudo-realistic to fit with cartoony ones. It’s a miss for me. It’s a shame—I was a big fan of the Spirit sets they made in this scale.

I don't understand what happened? They had finally started getting the hang of decent horse anatomy with their SRF 4-packs.

Which set(s?) are you referring to? Were they on the 7” scale, or something smaller?

I wonder if it would help loosen neck glue.  I have a couple of g3s that need beheading.

It has never seemed to affect the neck glue on my G3s. Formula 911 isn’t a harsh solvent by any means, which is part of why it’s considered safe for aging vinyl. It’s just really good at loosening up stickiness like old sealants, sticker residue, gum, and the like.

G3 neck glue is TOUGH. Absurdly tough. You will need something with serious kick to break it down, as even acetone hasn’t left a dent in it, in my personal experience.

Anyone who knows me here has probably already figured out that my perfect playset would be Midnight Castle, complete with Tirek, Scorpan, dragons, and a Chariot of Darkness™️. XD I can dream.

More realistically, I wish they had done more with the Flutters. A giant garden in the vein of Strawberry Shortcake or Rosepetal Place would have been amazing...

A small, nitpicky part of me might actually be relieved if the ponies only have one-sided CMs in the animation. Then it would match the toys, instead of the toys seeming inaccurate. XP

Oh wow! Lucky you! Congrats! :hearts:

Tickled Pink is indeed quite rare, and I see that all the dolls seem to have their tiny sprites and full outfits, which is a big deal!

Hum...
Underwhelmed?

But...

If it resonates with the kids...

That matters more?

Reserving judgement. Only thing I will say is that I despise the link to G4, like Hasbro think MLP cannot operate without its FIM crutch any more. It would do better to write a completely new story without the baggage of the past. But originality is a dead art.

I agree with you, that this premise can hold up without hard ties to FiM. Tales had no problem and did not need to cling to N Friends like a leech.

I don't think it's using it as a crutch. I think it's happening because FiM still is on a lot of streaming sites.

It's just a location. It's characters and plot that make up a story. :)

Agreed. In the era of streaming television, it makes sense to give kids a link to something they’re already familiar with. The mere fact that MAGIC has vanished already prevents this show from being a repeat of last time... Unless... they bring the magic back by the end of the movie. :/

Such a beauty... All of the art ponies appeal to me. She’s always been casually on my wishlist. If I saw her at a good price, I’d probably go for it.

Pony Corral / Re: First Look at G5 Toys

Hopefully there will be lots of characters and not just 3 or 4 ad naseum. Kids don't like buying a bajillion of the same thing.

Yes please! I like how these new main ponies for G5 look right now, and I don't want to get as tired of them as I got with the Mane 6. I think they should maybe only give them two (main brushable) toys a year, filling out the rest of the brushables each toy reset with different, new ponies each time. Have it be more similar to pre-Core 7 G3 where there are ponies that get released more (Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Sunny Daze, Sparkleworks, etc), but most releases are new characters.

Not to mention that when the G3 characters were rereleased, it was often in a different pose or finish. So if you liked the pony but not the pose, you had options. It was a really nice way of doing things—I miss that G3 business model. T_T

At the start of G4, I was really enthused about the character designs. But after 10+ years of having them crammed down our throats, my enchantment has sadly faded. :P

You guys bring up interesting points about customizing. You can't always tell from a picture, but they look like hard plastic.

Just a hunch from the brushable in those photos, but she seems like she has the matte look of the original G4 brushies, as opposed to the shinier, harder plastic of the movie, 4.5s, and beyond. The non-brushables in the photo seem shinier by comparison (like GoH), though that could all just be attributed to lighting.
