whuzzup wi' mah Desert Rose?

I found her at the goodwill today and thought she was just stunning, she's all white with white hair and shiney shine sparkles on her butt and face tinsel in her hair. Problem is that it looks like her hair is supposed to be pink? I looked at the base of her tail and her mane roots, but I can't see even a hint of pink! Were 2 versions released or is she just drastically sunfaded? She's pretty minty otherwise!

She has the notorious fading pink hair which started on G1's, seemed to skip G2's and then hit G3s!

Unfortunately there isn't much you can do now except to repink it if you wanted. You can do this with Rit Dye or I've also used food colouring.

fading pink is something you should get used to it's very common in G1s and G3s and many times it fades so completely that you can't find any traces of pink at all.

She is a really pretty girl though and I think would still be lovely with white hair.

oh no it happens with g2s, I have a beautiful miss teacher with white hair at the base of the mane then beautiful pink hair at the bottom : /

It gets all annoyingly chemically when you get into it...but the simple truth is different dyes breakdown at different rates and react differently to the variables that cause fading like ultra violet light and visible light. The dyes used for that particular shade of pink are particularly prone to it.

I agree that if you wish you should re pink her - water colours or rit dye are your best bet - and try to keep her out of as much direct sunlight as possible of course.

I totally put my Desert Rose in the window to fade her on purpose--and yes, the pink disappears completely, even down to the roots!

She is so gorgeous. White body, white hair, glitter, and that pretty rose symbol. Much love for all-white Desert Rose! ^_^

My G1 Wind Whistler has a white mane and tail and she looks just like her name

I know its sad isn't it. I have some ponies that are still in there packages that are fading.

I hate the fading pink hair.
I also have some G3s I bought new that have discolored heads now. :/

I think Desert Rose looks really nice with pink hair, but she'd also look very nice with white hair too. Kinda like a bride pony with the rose on her.
