Paypal-case reversal?
« on: October 08, 2012, 06:47:25 AM »
Hello, I've been selling on eBay for 6 years and this has never come up, so I'm a bit confused.

I sold a blind bag to someone in Sweden and they paid last night.  I have not shipped yet since I'm in the US and today is a holiday.  This morning I received an email from Paypal saying the payment was unauthorized.

Is this a security thing on their end or did the buyer open this case against me?  I went to resolve the case and the only options I was given were to prove I shipped or say that I have not shipped and refund their money.

Any ideas would be much appreciated!

I had this happen last year.  In my case my buyer, four months after the transaction claimed her credit card was stolen. I will explain later what happened, as I did win the case.

Anyways what's important firstly is to establish why the payment was reversed?

If it was the recipient doing a claim for non-receipt you would have had a "Item not received" claim active on your paypal account and would have had the opportunity to respond with the Tracking Details of the delivery in order to establish you sent the item and it was received.

If this is not the case then the recipient may have asked their Credit Card issuers to do a "chargeback" for some reason and therefore it's worth trying to contact the buyer.

*edit to add* It sounds to me that most likely she did a chargeback going on my own experience.

Have you tried to contact Paypal by phone? As I think you might need to contact them and ask under what circumstances this money was reversed.

I would not ship the BB pony until this is resolved :)

It does sound like a chargeback, and maybe buyer's remorse. :(

Thank you both, I am going to contact paypal and see what's up.

Buyer's remorse seems to be a good fit here, but I will wait and see what paypal says.
