So uh, I don't know if anyone here happened to be bidding on this, but I'd been watching all week and I kinda sorta won the auction. http://www.ebay.com/itm/VTG-MY-LITTLE-PONY-11-G1-baitcustomrestore-LOT-some-rare-so-soft-pocket-friend-/181565335794#viTabs_0There were several reasons why I wanted this lot- I see a bunch of ponies that I don't have yet, and despite being listed as bait, they really don't look too bad. What caught my eye though is that Fifi in the middle of the bottom row. I've been looking for a Fifi anyway, but I wanted to ask about that blue stripe in her hair... has that ever been seen before? When the auction was first posted I did a quick search for "blue-haired Fifi" and "Fifi variants" but could find nothing. I'm really curious about her... so I thought I'd ask the experts! Sorry if this has elements of overly bragging, but I'm just excited! Not just about Fifi, but a whole bunch of ponies that I've been after too.

After some careful thought while going through my non-pony toys tonight, I've decided to sell my small Wreck-It Ralph collection. visitors can't see pics , please register or loginI can't seem to find any info on the Ralphs or the Swizzle Malarckey (I got him in a bag of ponies at Goodwill!). As far as the Vanellope racer goes, checked eBay listings are suggesting $50 for the car alone. That... doesn't sound right to me. That's a lot of money, and I never get that lucky! Are there any Disney collectors out there who have a good idea of how much these toys are really worth? I really don't want to over or under price any of them. Big thank you in advance!

So I'm going to be starting a sales thread soon because I'm out of space and broke.
I've lost a lot of interest in G4 since they haven't really been doing a whole lot of creative things lately, and I'm sticking mainly to Blind Bags. I've got a nearly complete set of the "Playful Ponies," completely mint in the box. Years ago, I had space to display them because I lived with my grandma, but for a long time now they've been sitting alone in a plastic box in the closet. I think they'd be a lot happier where they can feel the sunshine.
I've a full set of Wave 1, Cheerilee from Wave 2 (I ended up buying the Easter Lily Blossom to take the spot of the missing Playful Pony), and full sets of Waves 3, 4, 6 (Cherry Pie missing the disc), and 8. I skipped 5 and 7 because it's just the Mane Six with different accessories and I found that to be too redundant. I've also got Zecora with her box, a very early boxed release of a BB Applejack, the Twilight Sparkle toothbrush cup, and the bubble bath set, all MIB.
I've kind of got a dilemma though... I'm really considering keeping Flitterheart, Honeybuzz, Snowcatcher, Dewdrop Dazzle, Sunny Rays, and Blossomforth for myself because I'm fond of them. Keeping them would not make a complete set.
I'm kind of wondering if I could get a PC on them as is and with the missing ponies if I do decide to keep them. Also, if I do, I'm kind of thinking of taking them out of their boxes for space reasons. Would this be a big no-no for those ponies specifically, since they are no longer being sold in stores?
I realize that unboxing ponies can be kind of controversial, so please understand that I'm not trying to start a fight. I just need some advice.
I'll probably be asking some more PC questions in the future, since I'd like to try to have these out by the end of the year. And hey, some may make some nice Christmas presents too!

I was just wondering if anyone else here had synesthesia? I discovered what it was about 6 years ago and always thought it was a really neat thing to have, and I love discussing synesthetic perceptions with others who experience it. It's a very difficult thing to explain to those who don't have the condition, so I'll do my best. It happens when the synapses of the brain that process the five senses become cross-wired, creating a strong association from one sense to another. The most common is "color grapheme," which means that people "see" letters, numbers, symbols, and words as various colors. For me, R is very red, so my name is also very red. My full name actually is very, very red. This is not the only sensation that a synesthete can experience. Some people see colors when they hear musical notes. Others will experience a texture that is associated with taste. It's all completely random- if you "choose" which sensations you have, then you most likely don't have synesthesia, you have a very strong association. Here's the Wikipedia article, just in case it's able to explain it better. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SynesthesiaPersonally, I have colored words and numbers, as well as number personality, and word taste. I also kind of have an organization synesthesia that I can't quite explain- like, I have a shape for the way years are organized. Days of the week are horizontal, months are vertical. Songs are rearranged in this way too, and songs will occasionally evoke a texture to me. Heavy metal is usually sharp, while rap is bumpy. I also possess an ability to taste faces. This was much stronger when I was little, so usually relatives, celebrities during the time, and even cartoon characters are the ones who will visually evoke the strongest tastes, because I was exposed to them when I was younger. I do, however, occasionally meet someone new as an adult who has a foody face, like my college professor who tastes like Shake N Bake. (And I was a vegetarian at the time of taking his class!) So is there anyone out there who has it and is interested in a discussion on it? (I choose a cheese icon because I really like cheese, and a lot of words evoke a cheese taste for me. Words like "simple," "sophisticated," "easy," "Yeats," "humble," "America," and "temple" all taste like some sort of cheese or cheese product.)

It's true, I've recently fallen for these girls! My very favorites are Crystalline, Morning Glory, and a fakie that was my cousin's childhood toy that she gave me. Of course I had to add the fakie option because the DB fakes are really pretty in their own right. Which of these beauties is your dream pony? Show pics if you're lucky enough to own one!

(x-posted from my blog. ) In 1979, Mattel released a new line of fashion dolls called Gorgeous Creatures. It’s possible that Gorgeous Creatures could be a delayed response to Hasbro’s Peteena the Poodle doll from the ’60s, as both toys were humanoid animal fashion dolls. It was a pretty silly concept at the time, and perhaps it’s still a little silly now. Though Gorgeous Creatures are not as elegant as Peteena or other anthropomorphic dolls out there, they are still pretty cute and I’ve wanted them for quite some time. I filed them away into the back of my mind to remember in case I ever found one at a yard sale or something. Yesterday I went to the antique mall looking for ponies, like always, and not finding any, like always. Sure enough, what do I see behind glass but these, all with their boxes! And for only $38 too… that’s a steal, I think! They’ve been removed from their rather worn boxes before and they do have some gentle play wear, but all of their accessories are there (except for the horse’s perfume bottle) and they are just too cute! I didn’t want to remove their clothes but I took a peek up their dresses to see how they were made. I was expecting the torso to be a Barbie mold, but nope! It was sculpted specifically for this! Or at lease I assume so, since they are marked 1979 on their backs. I also find it kind of neat that like Barbie and her etched plastic panties, these girls have an etched plastic corset. They are so delightfully curvy. I love it. The arms and legs have strange proportions that bother me a little bit, but these dolls are still way precious. They each come with a mirror, a comb, a brush, a perfume bottle, a pair of shoes, and, strangely enough, a picture of their boyfriends! I’m not a fan of the shoes either. They have straps and a strange peg that I can’t seem to get to hook into place. Anyway, Mattel continued their Gorgeous Creatures line until they decided they were too silly and ceased production at the end of 1980. I don’t think that they are particularly popular, but I’m glad that I stumbled upon them because they do make a nice addition to my collection. visitors can't see pics , please register or loginvisitors can't see pics , please register or loginvisitors can't see pics , please register or loginvisitors can't see pics , please register or loginvisitors can't see pics , please register or loginvisitors can't see pics , please register or login

When I was little, sometime around 1990-1993, I got one of my favorite toys for Christmas- a stuffed reindeer whose name was not Rudolph to me, but Moose. He looked more like a moose! And Moose was really cool too. He had this really dopey expression on his face with a wide smile sewn on with black thread, plastic half-opened eyes, and antlers that drooped rather than stood up straight. They also had a specific shape to them... kind of clover-like. Moose's face was very round, but his body was kind of square, and his feet were more triangular, with rounded tips. Moose's most identifiable feature was his glowing red nose and his ability to play the song Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer when you squeezed his tail, which had a red musical note embroidered on it. When I was little though, we had a horrible electrical storm which was setting him off and freaking out my little toddler mind, so instead of just taking out the batteries, my very smart parents took wire cutters and cut the mechanism out entirely. So I honestly couldn't tell you about what his song really sounded like, just that I only have very vague memories of him working. His battery pack, actually, was a zipper on the bottom of his belly, and I used to hide money in there when I was a teenager. Does this guy sound familiar to anyone out there? I'd really like to track down who he is because I'm having a conversation with someone who might or might not have had the same "Moose." He's a very special toy to me so I still have him, just that I don't have access to him at the moment and can't grab a picture.

I met my pony friend last year by asking her to hold some fakies for me at the MLP Fair and there were a few Tara babies that really needed some TLC. Most of them have been cleaned and are now happily residing with the rest of my fakie collection, except for one- this poor girl was CAKED in mold. Like, it looks like she actually bathed in the stuff. It might not even be mold but dirt, as if maybe she was buried. But whatever it is, I can't seem to get it off of her! I could even see it in the pictures and I thought "bring it on" because I love cleaning and restoring. But one year of scrubbing later, the pony just refuses to be clean. There is still dirt in her ears and mouth, and on the inside of her head. The worst of it is in her legs and there's a big patch around her butt that just won't come off. I've tried everything. I let some nail polish remover sit inside of her. Nothing. Last night I tried a 24-hour soak. Nothing. Every now and then, some little particles will come off, but nothing major. I think this poor pony actually likes living in my bait drawer! Then there's my poor Peach Blossom... as I was removing her head, I accidentally ripped the plastic right into her hair plug! And now I have no idea how to fix her. I have another fakie, one of those flocked hollow girls that tends to show up at Wal Mart around Easter-time. I was brushing her hair a little too hard and some of her scalp started to rip off. (Keep in mind that these girls are haired with a seam rather than having rooted holes, and their heads and bodies are one piece of plastic.) "No worries," I thought, "I'll just glue it back down onto her body! Well, yesterday, the glue dribbled, and now she has this big stream of glue running down her side! I have no idea how to fix her. And not ponies, but I have a My Magic Kissing Dragon that is also full of mold, but I can't figure out how to get her head off! I've only ever gotten it to come out through the holes on her feet. Which really is a shame, because MMKDs are really cute and I was excited to finally own one. I think I might have had one in childhood with the same problem actually... it seems that if I did, then my mom threw it out for the same reason. So tell me about your, uh, cleaning woes. I've had most of these for at least a year, and I feel so terrible for them because I've never been able to get them fixed. But at least I get 5 stars for bothering to fix up not one, but two fakies... right?

So today I received a box of ponies, including Bangles, who was placed very high on my want list. SCORE!
I was a little surprised handling her for the first time though. Her flocking felt a little different to what I'm used to... All of my other So Softs have nice, fluffy fuzzies. Though some of them have bald spots or patches of thinning, I've got a good idea of what thickness a So Soft should be.
Bangles's flocking is very lovely with very little loss, but it feels like a shorter length than the rest. It's closer to the feel of a peach, rather than the thick velvet of my others. I'm just wondering if this is a thing that all of the So Softs from the second set have? Because it's not like she's lost any of her flocking, just that it has a thinner texture if that makes sense?
Maybe it's just a factory error?

Today I was going through my G1s, and I realized that there are quite a few standards that I don't actually have yet!
I don't have Applejack, Firefly, Parasol, Moonstone, Lickity-Split, Gusty, or any of the Pony Friends or Merry-Go-Round, Dance n Prance, Magic Message, or Happy Tails Ponies!
So what classics are missing from your collection?

I have given a few stuffed animals light, gentle washes in the past by tying them inside a pillow case and tossing them in the washing machine on a low tumble, though most of my plushies just get a fluff in the dryer because I'm afraid of damaging them with water and the intensity of a washing machine. Today at a Goodwill Outlet though, I found a Baby Piggy that has clearly seen some better days. I'm very new to collecting Muppet Babies, so I decided to rescue her... but she's pretty manky so I want to be able to clean her and clean her well. I'm just wondering if anyone had any tips on what would be the best approach? She's a Hasbro Softie like the one in this picture from Google ( http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/236x/1e/8f/d8/1e8fd8cf058c76456095f50f82707969.jpg), but she has a stain on the bottom of her butt, and her hair is really clumpy and strand-y, like Chuckie from The Rugrats. I fear that it may be done for... but I'm going to try going after it with conditioner and a comb like regular doll hair. Is there anyone out there who has cleaned something like this before? Should I go for the washing machine, or would it be better to try hand washing myself? What about the hair? I think one of the reasons I'm reluctant to use the washing machine is because I fear that it might be too rough and mess up her sitting pose, or maybe even her clothes. I just want to touch her and not want to set my hand on fire afterwards. I hate being dirty.

A few years ago I went to London/Ireland and we held a garage sale to help raise some funds for my trip. I remember my dad bringing a big cardboard box out to the back and when I looked inside, all of my childhood play food was there! I was more than happy to send the toy food away to another child who would love them, but I was really reluctant to let go of my tea sets. Dad, however, really wanted to clear some space, so we compromised and a few of the pieces ended up getting to staying with me. This was before I was collecting toys, so at the time there was no need for me to fight a little harder... I forgot all about them until today when I was looking for trinkets to donate to my grandmother's nursing home, and I found them in a shoebox in my closet. visitors can't see pics , please register or loginvisitors can't see pics , please register or loginThe pink set I was especially fond of, though sadly, the pieces I still own have suffered terrible bleaching. visitors can't see pics , please register or loginAnd then there are the markings... apparently Fisher Price was at one point owned by Quaker Oats which I did not know, but does anyone know when these would have been manufactured and sold? They say 1982, but I'm sure that's the date of the sculpt since I would not have had these until another 10 years, and I think I do vaguely remember getting them for Christmas at around age 2 or 3. visitors can't see pics , please register or loginThe Barbie set is interesting too... I don't remember having a teapot, but I know I had more cups and saucers. If memory serves correctly, I think this was a present from either my grandma or one of her sisters, probably for my birthday. I think there were 4 in total. visitors can't see pics , please register or loginI'm really curious about it though because its markings have no trace of Mattel anywhere... are these knockoffs? Also, I'm sure that the dark pink spoon was with the Barbie set since it doesn't have the little etched flowers on the handle. visitors can't see pics , please register or loginThanks for looking! I bought a nicer-looking teapot in London and you can't see it, but I have it set up in close proximity to these.
