Getting My First Pullip!
« on: May 23, 2012, 06:49:41 PM »
So! I finally convinced my fiancee to let me get a Pullip. (The conditions are that I swear off MH for a while...which is probably a reaaaallly good idea for our wallets, albiet going to be kinda hard. But I will do it!)

I fell in love with the Pullip Saras, her green hair and purplish eyes are TOO great.

What I would like to know is:

-Care instructions
-Doll clothes that can fit them
-Any other important info.

I love her hair too much to replace it, but maybe one of these days I'll change the eyes. I think she's just so beautiful, and I'm renaming her Lily.

So yeah, any advice on care, etc etc.
I know she has a Type 4 body, but not much else. DX

One of the many nice things about Pullips is that they fit into most Barbie clothing...so the options there are pretty much endless! I like to go to goodwill and buy the Barbies for their clothing, and then re-donate the nude dolls. :silly:

Another thing you can do, if you like to sew, is buy the Barbie/fashion doll patterns and make your girl clothes. This way is nice because then you can tailor the clothing to fit perfectly (since not all Barbie outfits do).

For care instructions, I don't think there's anything that isn't intuitive - the only weird thing I can think of is that their bodies do stain, so if that's something that will bother you you should take care to not leave them in any outfits that are dark or that will bleed. My Suiseiseki came to me with a stained body (from PullipStyle), but it doesn't bother me and I want to Obistu her anyway so....

I can't think of anything else :)

-Care instructions- The bodies can be a little fragile. And with the type 4 the hands can be loose and can fall off. A little teflon tape can help that. I don't use stock bodies though. I love my obitus bodies alot better. But they can run upward to around 30 dollars for the body.
-Doll clothes that can fit them-Some barbie stuff will fit. Barbie shoes work great for the type 4 feet. Liv clothes will fit but they can be loose. And some Bratz clothes will fit the type 4 body. I don't think that Bratz pants will fit.
-Any other important info- Don't leave her touching her face for a very long time. As she can melt. Its a
chemical reaction between the different plastices.

I hope that you love your new girl she is very pretty. Congrats and can't wait to see pics!!!

Oh and Coolcat is the place to get eyes from. There on ebay and they also have a store.

I actually plan on learning how to sew doll clothes. My hand sewing skills are atrocious, but they get the point across, so possible I could hone them (though if I could use a sewing machine I guess I could do that too! I'm better with it).

And if Barbie clothes fit, then that's just plain awesome!

Obistu confuses me. I know it's a brand, and it's typically something people rebody the dolls with, but it still confuses me a bit. Heh. I don't think I plan on doing this with her though. I love her the way she is. She's just so lovely.

SwordPony: I'll keep careful with her hands then! Yeah, I don't quite think I can afford Obitsu right now, so definately keeping her body. And thankfully I know about the hand thing! I'll definately be wary of that. No melty please. And I'll also leave other plastics off her face.

Zombilina: Her hair is what won me over the most. I plan on taking it down too. Sooo pretty.

Obitsu is like...a replacement body. It has more poseability and you can buy different body types (busts size and such). I never thought I would want one, either...until I got a second hand girl who came with an Obitsu. Now my stock body feels creaky and ugly.

So I guess the lesson to take from that is - if you don't want to buy an obitsu, don't accidentally buy one and realize all your girls need them :silly:

Liv, Moxie, Stardoll (I think?), Blythe, Momoko, Bratz and some Barbie clothes will fit her. With the type 4 body, a LOT of the tops will be very loose with Barbie clothes, though. It's adorable if you're going for a relaxed look, though. c:
Also MH bottoms will fit her (they'll be a bit on the snug size, but will fit) and SOME tops. Most will only close at the bottom, which is okay if you're just leaving her on display.
Here's my girl pretending to be Rochelle.. You can see how tight these little MH tops are on her, but she displayed okay with it. ^_^

Also yes, the staining. Don't leave her in dark clothing for a very long time.

Also be aware that some wigs may stain. If you're buying from a place like eLuts, Leekeworld, etc. they'll usually have a warning for it. So for future references, she will fit 8-9" wigs. :)
Congratulations on Saras, though! She is cute!

Thanks Chi! These posts are so helpful. :D Falling for her more and more. Such a great desicion, I don't know if I can wait the wait for her to get here.

Anyone have experience as to how long it'll take for the basic shipping to get here? (US)

Jupiter: Hopefully by the time she gets here we'll have some flowers planted, so I'll be sure to get shots of her with flowers. P: (I only have a cellphone camera, but it's decent if I put them out in medium sunlight)

I can almost gaurentee I won't be getting another for a while, but that won't keep me from pining for more. I still love that Chelsea Pullip doll too.

And if I can find this thread when I get her, I'll post an unboxing (outside on a hopefully sunny day so you can see her better). If not, I'll post a new one.

Iirc it was much faster than I expected. I wish I could give you an exact date but hey - at least it's not 3-4 months like a BJD >.<
