help please
« on: July 01, 2014, 12:34:47 AM »
Hello everypony,
I need some advice. I won a funko glitter spitfire on ebay from china.  So I asked my husband to make the payment, so my husband checked the sellers account, feed back, and items for sale (which I overlooked). The seller has only been an eBay member since  2014 and he/she does not have any other items for sale and no feedback whatsoever. I even asked the seller a question last night and received no response. Does this all sound like a scam. What should I do??

First of all keep waiting until you get a response. Then ask a follow-up question. Maybe if you can establish a solid communication with the seller you'll feel better? If not retract and explain why, I think you have the right.

Also, if you pay with PayPal, you should be covered there!

But I agree, wait for a response, and if a few days goes past, maybes message the seller again?
Thanks to calico star for my avatar!

I agree with what everyone else said, but it does sound a little fishy. But generally if a seller does not respond to messages, you are well within your right to create a claim with Ebay and Paypal.

It kinda sounds like the seller created a new account after something went wrong with their old account... :/

I would just wait. Just remember, new sellers try their best. I'm sure within 1-3 days from a good seller, you'll receive a response. I know the feeling, but remember, you're covered on ebay and paypal:)

If you have not paid yet, check the sellers' payment policy.  Make sure you pay with in the number of days, as long as you use PayPal, you will be able to get your money back if something goes wrong.  If you *don't* pay, you could get a strike as a non paying bidder!  Then write down the day you pay on the calendar so you can make sure you don't miss the window for making a PayPal claim, if you need to. :). Everyone started with zero feedback at some point, and with the protections in place now, there's a lot less risk as a buyer.

If the seller is changjialing9066, I'm going to say *yes* this is likely a scam!

I normally wouldn't, but they DO have ended auctions. And if you look up some of those items,  they are exact copy and pastes (with a stolen image) of auctions that are currently up!!
