You can find Gyarados in the wild. Mine is my strongest too. He's up at 1800 something CP (maxed out for my trainer level) and I still have like 300 candies left (Magikarp is common where I am).

I guess Pokemon really do appear differently in different places. Although, it still doesn't make any sense to me - I see plenty of Horseas and Poliwags around, but I'm no where near water. (and somehow they rarely actually appear to me outside of the 'nearby' list so I don't even have a lot of them. =/ )

My friend and I went down by a local river, and only saw one water Pokemon - Krabby. lol

Went out with my boyfriend catching Pokemon on Saturday and as soon as I got home I downloaded it

Yesterday we went to the park in the evening and there must have been 15 people chasing Pokemon round

Not fun. I went to catch a Eevee and had no pokeballs and I needed that one to evolve another Eevee.

I've only had eggs disappear. A 4.9/5.0, I was sooo annoyed. Thought 'that should have hatched by now' and checked it, and it was gone and the incubator empty.

How in the world do you both have Gyrados's? I just ran into my first Magikarp for the very first time last night, and it takes 400 candies to evolve it.  Considering I only just now ran into my first Magikarp I can't see that happening in under a year's time. 

They are wild rares.....or you can do my method and find a "hot spot" that only spawn magikarp and lay down mods and farm for them all day  I got lucky and founds lots of dtatini in the process! Finding the perfect spot for magikarp is tricky though, but they are there near water!

Yeah so im SUPER close to getting dragonite! We found a wild dragonair with 700-something CP plus my 80ish dratini candies! Suuuuuuuper excited OMG! One of my favorite Pokémon literally ever!

As far as the eggs dissappearing I once an egg hatching and my game frozen, looked through my Pokémon and nothing new

I had that happen, but it gave me the Pokemon. It wasn't in the journal but WAS in my recents.  Eta: my game wasn't froze
