Replacing just one hair plug?
« on: July 06, 2013, 12:58:49 PM »
I am currently at the Fair and  got a good deal on G1. Only thing is that one of the hair plugs is missing. I know people do rehairs, but is it possible to replace only one plug in the mane instead of doing a full rehair? Sorry if this is a stupid question but I've never done one before so I thought I'd ask. :)

:D Maybe if you are lucky, you could see if anyone has their customizing stuff, and have it done right there at the fair!

Oh yes, you can probably take a small piece of the tail from an inconspicuous spot and pop it right in.  ;)

I just did this for a magic hat who was missing 4 plugs, and I am fading the section to match the rest of the faded hair.

This! Count how many hairs are in a plug, take the tail out and pull off the clamp, harvest however many hairs, put a new ziptie on the tail... put the tail hair in the mane.. put tail back in. Voila!

Totally! I have done this on a couple of ponies. And as long as you remember its been done and dont really brush & style it too much you should literally just be able to do a quick external re root. I use teeny nail clippers to get rid of the root and then a few donor hairs from an old matching tail [or even this ponies tail] to replace.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

I did this for Baby Ember who was missing two plugs :) I used a tail from a bait with the same hair colour :)

I do this all the time with ponies; I borrow hair from baits often. There's some great advice listed. If you don't want to take the head off I'd agree with hathorcat and go with a quick external rooting...
