Customs / Re: Snow'El 2 - G3 to G4 generation swap pony

She's even more beautiful in person! I love having her in my winter pony collection. The gloss finish on the tongue and eyes takes it to the next level. She's stunning for sure! Thanks again for such a fun swap.

Customs / Re: What are these airbrushes like?
« on: February 17, 2021, 03:45:57 PM »
Master is a good starter, but mine didn't last because I'm clumsy and dropped it, bending the tip shut. Since it was a starter model, that piece doesn't come off, so I had to replace it. I still use the compressor, but it doesn't have a lot of control, though I don't need it, always working on a small scale with acrylics. I replaced the brush with an Iwata. It was expensive, but so worth the upgrade and so much easier to use and clean. If you are just staring out, I don't think you can go wrong with any of these, but the last one will need an air compressor bought separately. The Point Zero will give you the chance to try different feeds to see what you like, but for the price I wouldn't be surprised if quality is lacking. I personally prefer gravity feed for the hand feel and online recommendations for this type I bought into. Sounds like they may have less problems since they work with gravity rather than against, but I don't have first hand experience with siphon feed to be sure.

Trader & Shipping Support / Re: Should I refund? I need advice.

I'm not a seller, but it seems the buyer is at fault here? The package was attempted to be delivered but they didn't follow up with the post office. If you get the item back and are feeling kind, you might refund them, but if you are out of a product because of their lack of follow up, I'm not sure you owe here.

Here's my custom for the Monochrome Swap. I got to experiment with resin for this one. Her symbol and jellyfish friend can light up!

Thought you’d be interested about knowing the existence of this Minty!! I’ve only ever found one blurry documentation of her existence outside my own, she came with a play mat and I have yet to see her for sale but she is cute! https://www.instagram.com/p/CGtrj-WAblr/?igshid=1s6zp1o0cslgnvisitors can't see pics , please register or login

I came across her for sale at some kind of convention or fair (maybe from a member here who was selling at Trotcon 2018?) and I actually have her! I have no idea her origin and was excited to get her. I had a theory that she might have been a cake figure or something, but I would love to know more about her!

I enjoyed making her! I would like to do some kind of version of her again in the future.

Love the wise expression to go with this sky and owl theme. The crystal crown is a nice touch too! Very lovely guy!

Oooo, I had never heard most of that information, LadyMoondancer! Thanks! The G2 design does make more sense in that context.

Pony Corral / G2 and G3 History?
« on: March 06, 2020, 10:26:57 AM »
I feel like there is so much information on G1 and G4 about history of those lines development. I never seem to be able to find as much about G3 or G2. What do we know, or are there resources about history outside of My Little Wiki (which has been a very interesting resource!)?

Customs / Re: Painting tips
« on: February 13, 2020, 07:25:18 PM »
Yes, as others have said, it's hard and takes practice. Start with a custom you dont have to do a base coat underneath for, so you can easily wipe paint off after mistakes and not get so discouraged by ruining an undercoat at first. Also, use one single, fluid movement for a brush stroke; if you try to do tiny strokes to be precise, it will result in messy lines. Think of it like a calligrapher's movement rather then a sketch artist movement. Use reference images, even when you know what look you are going for. Invest in a fair quality brush, and be aware that white and other low pigment shades are going to need several thin coats.
