Spreading the love to future generations!

Anyone who talks to me for more than a few minutes knows that one of my passions is pit bull awareness. Ever since adopting my first pittie Dante (in icon), I realized that being a responsible pit bull owner includes being an advocate and staunch defender of this misunderstood breed.

I follow a lot of pit bull and rescue-related blogs and pages online. Last week, one of the Vicktory dogs (dogs who were rescued from Michael Vick's Bad Newz kennels) posted on his blog that unfortunately, one of their foster dogs (they now run a rescue out of their home) had gotten up to mischief and partially chewed the horn off their little toddler's Twilight Sparkle.

I e-mailed "him" and let him know that while most of my ponies are packed up, I had some duplicates in my office. I mailed the little girl the Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie from the collector set that came with Nightmare Moon, and some stickers. Heard back today and she is so thrilled! I could never repay them for what they've done for our breed, but it makes me happy to spoil a child since I don't have any of my own, and foster the next generation's love of all things MLP! Who knows, maybe she'll be on these boards in another decade or so and her first ponies will be "vintage."

Both helping a misunderstood breed (there is not a single 'evil' dog, only misunderstood ones), and spoiling a child =)

I'd just loved to see the kid's face =)

But hey!!  Dogs and cats love ponies too!!

aw, that's so nice of you! My dog ate one of my ponies once and suddenly I had four replacements on my hands from people. People can be so nice.

Oh that was so nice of you to do that. And that breed of dog is no differnt then others. It take a mean hand to turn a dog mean.

And I don't believe any dog breed in inherently "bad," either but I know there are people who are misinformed. . .

That is so sweet!  Not only did you probably make a little girl's day, but anyone who works so hard for those dogs deserves a little good karma for themselves.  Warm fuzzies all around! 

As a side note, I love that the dog has been rehabilitated to the point where the worst he does is chew off a pony's horn.  Heck, even my dachshund is worse than that!

Yeah, she was a really sick dog when they first pulled her from the shelter. She had a spinal disc infection and was in agony. Now she can run around and play!

I figured the same thing, about karma. Sometimes the family probably does without so they can save one more dog, pay for one more surgery. And yeah, I heard back that she slept with Rainbow Dash that night and spent the next day drawing pictures of ponies
