McDonald's giving out old ponies in addition to new ones?

If there are still toys sitting around from a year ago, where do they store them all? I can't imagine them running out of the current promotion's toys very often, so they'd end up with a huge backlog of extra toys in no time.

I always thought the extra toys just got sent back. Apparently the customer appreciation sets do. Makes more sense to me.

I was wondering this, too.  I went to a McDonalds inside a mall food court to see if I could snag Lily Blossom and received last year's Twilight Sparkle.  Which is fine, I'll just put her up for sale but I wouldn't expect one in a food court to have the extra space for last year's stock.

I know they have stocks of old toys lying around so that if they ever run out of the current promotion toys (this has happened before with the Sanrio watches) they still have Happy Meal toys to give out. In this case, I don't know if they specifically received old boxes of pony toys (which would be a little weird if they received it from headquarters or wherever they get it from every new promotion) or rooted around in their generic toy box for the old pony toys to fill the void.

Happened to me too! I got an Applejack from the old set in place of a new one!

 Once I realized it, I was bummed!

I wish mine did that here, I wouldn't mind getting a set of last years Ponies to go with my cute keychain ones. Though I still need to track down Pinky Pie!

I got a Princess Celestia from last year as well, which I was pretty excited about!

Today a friend and I hit up a McDonalds in search of Rainbow Dash and Cherilee, but they had fluttershy. So I figured I'd just buy two. When my friend opened hers, she was like "Oh there's a hairclip in here? What?" I looked and it was last years!  Pretty cool! But I really just want to finish my 2012 collection! ;_;

Yeah mcds seem to do that a lot as they want to get rid of the old stock.

Yeah, I experienced this too. Although, I was quite happy about it. I got Cheerilee from 2011, which I had missed out on last year. I wasn't happy though when I got a left over build a bear in my happy meal yesterday instead of a pony.

Today I got old Princess Celestia. I didn't have her, so I was happy.

ugh i went the other day and got the first release of fluttershy from last year. but i needed her so not complaining lol
