Title: Washing hair of certain ponies
Post by: TheBeatlesPkmnFan42 on January 15, 2012, 02:16:33 PM
OK, I've been cleaning some pony's hair lately and I was wondering. Would washing a G3 scented pony (like Coconut Grove) with conditioner, end up taking away the scent? I don't want to mess up the scent at all. So I need to know if washing her would be OK. Also, is doing that with ponies with tinsel in their hair OK? I have quite a lot of ponies that need cleaning, but have tinsel.

I have taken a magic eraser to a scented G3 and removed marks without removing her scent.

A full wash? I have no knowledge.

just a regular conditioning of the hair and full body wash shouldnt take away the scent. i've scrubbed away on a citrus sweetheart for a while and conditioned her hair and she still reeks of fake vitamin C, so you shouldnt have to worry about the scent going away :)

I was only talking about hair. I already removed her marks a while ago with the magic eraser.

It should be fine. Even if you use scented products, the scent on the ponies is surprisingly strong! And with tinsel, you might want to be a bit more cautious around hot water, and definitely try not to be rough while working in shampoo or conditioner. But other than that, washing ponies with tinsel is fine.

I've never had a scented pony personally, but I think the scent is actually part of the plastic rather than a spray-on or something. So, like the other posters have said, washing their hair shouldn't affect the scent.

If you're really worried about it, or are afraid to mix the pony's scent with the scent of the shampoo/conditioner, maybe you could try getting a similarly-scented shampoo/conditioner? There's a brand of shampoo and conditioner called Suave that comes in TONS of different scents, and it's only a dollar and change for a decent-sized bottle. I know Walmart has it, but I'm not sure if it's their own brand or not.

I've washed my Coconut Grove at least 6 times (a shelf she was placed on left a sticky residue on her feet and it took forever to get rid of it) and deep conditioned her hair and she still smells of coconut. I wouldn't worry about just washing her once. :)

I would say you'd be pretty safe conditioning her hair & giving her a wash overall, if you were doing it weekly or something I would think the scent would dissapear a bit quicker, but I think a wash & condition wouldn't hurt a scented pony too much :)

Tinsel haired ponies are also safe to wash & condition, tinsel has a tendancy to not want to sit with the rest of the hair though, but thats just the fun of having tinsel in the many of any pony of nay gen ;)
