Sad News (old time collector)

It is with a heavy heart that I relay the following information:

Yesterday (June 3rd), a long-time My Little Pony collector and fan - Justin, often referred to as "Steamer" or "SteamerBro," - passed away.  He was very active in the My Little Pony community in the late 1990s and early 2000s, though I don't think he ever visited the arena.  Most of you may not know him, but some of the old timers will remember the name.  I wanted to post this news for those of you who may remember him...and just to share about how wonderful he was with those of you who may not have known him.

You could sometimes find him in the old Dream Valley chat, as he was extremely friendly, caring, and sweet.  Whenever I bought something from him, he'd always throw in an extra pony (or two!!).  From the days of AOL Instant Messenger, I could always rely on him for a "Hey, how's it going!?"  Super friendly, super sweet...the world truly lost a genuinely GOOD person yesterday.

In the early 2000s he became a lot more focused on Cabbage Patch Kids and other doll communities (I believe one of his screen names there was Baby Face Daddy), so that's probably why many of you may not recognize the name/screen name SteamerBro.  Trust me, they don't get much better than Justin.

Justin's peripheral vision was not good, and unfortunately he was hit by a car in southern Florida while he was trying to cross an extremely busy street.  The driver was not at fault and was said to be completely distraught, immediately called paramedics, and tried to deliver as much aid as she could.  I heard he did not suffer.

Rest in Peace, Justin...The Pony Community (and the doll community...and the rest of the world) will miss you!!

Oh, that's a real shame:(  I think I met him at Ponypallooza 2000, and he was a sweet guy.  I also remember seeing him around the community, and he was always so nice.  I'm really sorry to hear that he's gone, and I wish his friends and family the best during this terrible time.

I am so sorry to hear this! While I did not know him he sounds like a really nice guy and maybe he rest in peace The world shall miss him! I will be praying for his friends and family in this time of grief.

That is really sad to hear. I never knew him but it sounds like he was awesome. My thoughts are with his friends and loved ones...

That's terrible news... I remember him well from the Dream Valley chat and mailing lists. He, I, and Moondancera would hold also aim chats and play Neopets together. RIP.

I think I remember seeing him on the MLP Yahoo group I'm with. Hasn't been any activity there in ages so I wonder if it should be posted there?
