Having seen all the G5 news up to this point, I can say that I'm still cautiously optimistic.
Some of the CG looks really nice, and it seems animated well enough. The names will take some getting used to, particularly Sunny Starscout.
As for the plot, it has me intrigued. If that leaked animatic is of any indication, it will curious to see the cast from FiM being viewed as old heroes, or some mythical legend long forgotten.
I wonder to what extent magic is "gone". I mean, we still have unicorns. Can they not cast spells anymore?

Even though I think this side series is mostly mixed in my opinion, I pretty much agree with everyone that Potion Nova is an absolute delight. And some of the zaniness of this show can be entertaining. As of the latest episode there is a random zebra character and he has a regular cutiemark and isn't a voodoo priest. That's another positive for me

I see my sense of humor as rather skewed, so it can be tricky to get me to laugh out loud. Therefore, I can only name a few times MLP has got me to burst in laughter. The madness in "Applebuck Season" is a classic. I remember rewatching that baking scene multiple times. I got some good laughs out of "Maud Pie". Her dry humor clashes so well with the main cast's wild antics. Now while I think the FiM episode "Tanks for the Memories" is very flawed with its drama, I actually found it quite funny, both for the right and wrong reasons. That whole crying scene near the end just made me cackle in disbelief. I also remember grinning a lot while watching Pinkie suffer in "The One Where Pinkie Pie Knows."  And call me shallow all you want, but I found Spike's impromptu anthem performance in "Equestria Games" to be really funny. Kudos to Cathy Weseluck.  As for anything outside of FiM, the only scene I can recall getting a laugh out of me was the Tales episode "Ponies in Paradise". I enjoy some dark humor. And I guess some of the slapstick with the Witches from the Volcano of Gloom in My Little Pony 'n Friends was good.

So should we officially call this G4.5? Because it definitely is a ".5" generation. That said, I do agree that it's got a lot more going for it than the Newborn Cuties. Princess Probz was...weird. I understand they threw a ton of stuff in there to bring us all up to what this show is about, but I don't think I'm going to enjoy Pinkie Pie being the main character of this show. She already tested my patience at times in FiM; this is really going to stretch it. I'm oddly okay with this new version of Celestia, though. It's fine time for Nicole Oliver to be more lively with her Celestia voice. The Best of the Worst I enjoyed quite a bit. It's more straightforward with the plot, so the breakneck speed is more manageable. And while Rainbow Dash was often one my lesser favorite characters in FiM, I think she's fits much better in Pony Life. I didn't usually take her that seriously, so putting her in a show that's not meant to be taken seriously at all makes sense to me. Overall, I'm glad I saw this pilot. I don't love it, but it had just enough to keep me watching. It also helps that these episodes are shorter, so the obnoxiousness doesn't drag as much. If they play their cards right, I believe I can stomach maybe two or three seasons of this.

I do think the voice actress is cute too. The animation is still off-putting though. Especially Pinkie's face while she's crying. It just looks so weird and sickly.

Very late to the party here. These shorts are okay. I do like the animation, but the constant mouth noises hurts it for me. And yeah, I totally agree that these kinda make me think of a cute family friendly Robot Chicken. I'm still surprised that series never really touched upon the brony fandom. I saw a video that suggested that these shorts might be super simple and saccharine on purpose so that the actual Pony Life series will seem better in comparison, and G5 even more so. Parts of me want to think that given that there's no way Hasbro would devolve so severely and so quickly knowing about their adult fans. Although they could simply be wanting to start over the cycle of getting small kids attention and then slowly indulge them into their franchise more as they age.

I have several ideas that I would have rewritten.
But for now, let's stick with the one that's off the top of my head, Swarm of the Century. The first episode that I completely disliked, even back when I first saw it years ago.
I hate good morals that are misdirected. The lesson is that "sometimes the solution to your problems can come from where you least expect it. It's a good idea to stop and listen to your friends' opinions and perspectives, even when they don't always seem to make sense." But that doesn't fly because Pinkie didn't present her idea as a solution to begin with; she didn't explain anything. On top of that, her presence actually made things worse by interfering with her friends plans.
It really would have been a lot more bearable if she came up with the idea to start a band and march the parasprites out of town like a parade, and her friends think that's a silly, nonsensical idea. Then the lesson at the end would be more appropriately applied. Plain and simple.

Octavia Melody and Vinyl Scratch are sisters.
And Cozy Glow is not actually a little filly.

Yeah, unfortunately the term "CalArts" has become the go-to word for the popular trend of flat, rounded character designs with bean shaped heads and noodle limbs. People typically think Adventure Time, Gravity Falls, Steven Universe, Clarence, that kind of stuff when they say CalArts, even if it's not entirely accurate.

My late take on this. I'm mostly optimistic about where this will lead. Most of the worry is that this will try too hard to be Teen Titans Go, which I'm pretty sure won't be the case. The reason why TTG has gotten a bad reputation is because A) the previous Teen Titans cartoon didn't get a complete ending like FiM has, B) its immature humor and obnoxious zaniness, and C) it oversaturated Cartoon Network's US schedule like nobody's business. I highly doubt they will give Pony Life that much attention and not for that long, unless if it somehow becomes a monster success. My best guess is that this will be only a 1 or 2 year period to hold the fans over until G5 officially comes into play. The animation and art style doesn't bother me... ...but I get the feeling it will look a little different in the actual cartoon as opposed to this promo. I just hope that it will be a short, sweet, silly series for us to enjoy while we await 2021.
