Super Smart Pets
« on: March 09, 2015, 02:42:04 PM »
I bet there are some really smart pets out there. I know we have two here... and one that's a bit stupid, but we love her anyway.

Amber has skills with trained tasks. She has a few tricks she loves to do and picked up going over a jump on the very first training session. She gets me my slippers too :)

Gizmo uses his brain for evil! His most impressive (and annoying) trick is that he can open his cage... and Cookie's cage and surprisingly he can also break into Amber's too even though it has a different configuration and has to be lifted right up before it can be drawn across. It's a good thing he's a Pom Pom otherwise he'd be opening doors!

Finally Cookie... she's a bit too dim to do anything clever. She can mountaineer though. She's always climbing on the backs of the chairs and playing "the floor is lava" by getting from one side of the room to the other without setting foot on the floor. She does sometimes get herself stuck though so you have to listen out for the little whiny noises she makes when she wants help to get down.

I have one evil smart cat, a few deviously clever ones, one brain damaged one, and Fuzzy, who is dumb as a brick.

My ferret is actually very intelligent, but he's also kinda bad sometimes... he's also very sneaky, but that's just a ferret thing.

But yeah, he's a smart one.

Hmm.. I've got one. Too smart for his own good sometimes, but that's what you get with a border collie.

https://www.youtube.com/user/sweetsundance

He knows over 200 tricks, performs at local events, has been on tv a few times and a movie, and enjoys all the dog sports. He's my star.

They're incredibly smart dogs. My boss has two, Finley & Fiona, and she usually brings them to work. Finley expresses emotion like no dog I've ever seen before. If he and his sister are offered a treat, sometimes he'll reject it then go pout in another room when his sister gets hers. My boss says Finley also has OCD tendencies and will sometimes refuse to go inside the house until they've walked in circles around it a couple times.

My beautiful siamese mix likes to ride on my shoulder and go camping and hiking.  Not exactly tricks, but still pretty cool for a cat.

Her kitten pic (she's 4 now):

Nirvana grails:  Reverse Gusty (upgrade), Peru Windy and Moonstone (upgrade), Brazil TAF upgrades, Argie Powder w/ white hair (upgrade), French Windy and Moondancer (upgrades), Spain TAF's, TE's, and piggies.  These are my biggest wants, but I'm looking for tons more nirvanas, especially Greeks, Brazilians, and Peruvians.  Feel free to PM me for sales or trades.  But please note that I'm also fairly picky.

My family cats can feel when I come back to Germany. Seriously. Normally I am not with my parents for the whole year, and my bedroom door is closed most of the time, and they are not interested in going in there at all. But maybe 3 weeks before I arrive, they start to sit in front of the room and want to sleep in my bed. Both of them. I'm so curious to see if this is happening again this year.

I used to keep the kitty treats in a drawer.  So my cat learned how to open drawers.  ;)

He grabs the knob with one paw and helps jimmie the drawer open with the other as he walks backwards.

My bulldog is pretty smart. She knows what I am asking her to do, and she straight up ignores me. So stubborn!

Lol, I guess I didn't actually say doggies :) that'd be a cool trick for hamsters :D Amber is a Sheltie and the other two are Pomeranians.
They use their cages just for meals and at night so we keep them shut the rest of the time... well we did but Gizmo doesn't accept that so his has to stay open.

The youtube video won't show for me, stopxmotion, but your dog sounds much smarter than ours :D and more famous :)

My cat is as daft as a brush but I adore her. The dogs I call Scooby and Scrappy because thats is them to a t - the big one is always scared and a little slow, the little one is always up for a challenge and is pretty sure he is a smart butt.

The parrot...well the parrot...I am telling you if he was a human he would be a serial killer. And he would be a good one - never caught, never suspected. The only animal whose eyes I look in and I am pretty sure he knows he is smarter than me.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi
Loa is my love god!
I love Loa more than PonyLady!
