Italy moondancers symbols
« on: June 15, 2012, 04:38:16 AM »

i recently got an italian moondancer with different symbols - one with the moon facing foreward and one with a facing backward moon on the other side (ignore italy starshine, its a picture for my brag thread  http://mlparena.com/mlp/index.php/topic,299294.0.html ) - is that normal? i thought there was a version with forward facing and one with backward facing moon but DIFFERENT symbols on BOTH sides??:

I think the facing backwards moon variation is not super uncommon, (not too common either but) I have both versions of her myself :)  It wasn't difficult to get either one either.  I love Italy Moondancer/Luna, so the more the merrier!  I'd show pics, but my girls are packed away :/

oh gosh! now i do seem to remember there being something about moondancers symbols ~ we need shelti as she understood the pattern!

i am just looking at my moon dancer and both her moons are in the ( position on both sides.

i am thinking perhaps it is because the italians had hand stamped symbols? so like the hand stamped eyes, they are all a bit unique. it does seem common for the italians to have backwards, reversed or upside down symbols.

I didn't know that either!

*Edit*
I found one of my Italy Moonies, and she does have one forward and one backwards facing moon!  I was so excited to take pictures that I didn't brush her hair, poor girl.  I gotta take a better one for my Flickr MLP album.. Anyways, here are piccies:

Left side, back facing moon

Right side, forward facing moon:

I tried to take both pictures showing the "dent" in her chest to show it is indeed the same pony.  I bought her and a regular Italy Moonie from a member here 3 years ago, but I don't remember who!
Just when I thought I had them all.. now I need her third Italian sister :)

How strange! I had one with that same sort of dent in her chest, but I sold her only last year, I think to the ponymonsters?

That is weird LadyG!  I wonder if that is a common factory error with Italy Moonies?

Could be, could be! She always made me giggle, as the seller I got her from had referred to her as open-heart surgery Moondancer :)

Italy Moonie is quite a curiosity. I noticed she can be found with both moons looking backward, or with one backward and the other forward (like yours). And, this is the funny part, you’ll never find her (I’ve never seen her) with both moons looking forward in her white version BUT the yellow one always has moons looking both forward.

Odd huh ?

That is odd!  That I didn't know.  So I take back my previous comment, I have both the white moons, but now I need the yellow girls.  So then there's three versions of the yellow one?

Now I'm going to think of that every time I see mine! :lmao:
