Head/body mismatch
« on: November 23, 2015, 03:23:58 PM »
Is there anything that can be done to correct a mismatched head and body?  Will sunfading work?  Anything else?

This is my biggest pet peeved flaw! I can't stand it! I've heard sun fading has helped, but I would imagine it's hard to lighten the darker part to the exact color. I'll be watching this thread though to see if anyone has any great remedies or input!!!

Far Dreamer at MLP Preservation Project said that someone tried and fixed a mismatch with dye. Might be worth it to take a look at it

I've read that, Wind Whistler.  I've also read here on the forums that dye is a bad idea because it doesn't last and can bleed onto other ponies.  Thanks for the response, though!!  :good:

According to this, yes:  http://mlparena.com/index.php/topic,287927.0.html  The vinegar might help prevent fading, but the pony still has to be kept away from other ponies.  There's just enough iffiness and issues with dying that I don't think I want to deal with it.  :)

I've only dyed two ponies before - to make customs - and yes, the dye can and does mark other ponies if you're not careful enough to keep them apart. I wasn't  >_< I'm still annoyed about it, even though I found a new pony to take the place of the one that got the dye on her (it WOULD be my Macau Jenny that was the recipient of the added dye, wouldn't it??)

Thank you *wyvernchick* for my lovely avvie!

No remedy aside from putting something around the neck to break up the discoloration a bit... A cute necklace, scarf, etc...

If we're talking about G1s, they don't look that great when dyed.  It tends to bring out little imperfections in their "skin."  G3s take dye very well and smoothly, but seldom have head-body mismatch.

I've been able to lessen the degree of difference on a few with head/body mismatch through sunfading, but not enough to really be worth doing. You could still see it easily.

I think I posted on this very recently. :) Its so funny how the same things crop up at the same time. As others have said unless its that one part of the body is lighter in colour than the other - rather than a different colour - then there is very little can be done. Unfortunately even a lighter/darker difference is often a result of different batches rather than being affected by sunlight. However if it is light/dark, you could certainly try fading the darker part to see if it helps.

But if its a shade difference then I would recommend a nice ribbon necklace so that you dont notice the difference :) As there is no other solutions.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi
