Tips on Fixing Ponies' Hair
« on: December 24, 2014, 08:38:34 PM »
I've noticed with a lot of G3 ponies their hair hangs down their NDS side when taken out of the package. What's the best way to get it hanging down their display side while still keeping it looking nice? An example of how I'd like my ponies' hair to look is here: http://strawberryreef.com/Index/Name/alwaysforever.html

You're right, I had never noticed it, usually I leave opposite the face, but always wanted to stay in the prefecture display photos ...

I think warm, but not boiling water might work for you here. That has helped me get hair on the side of the pony I want, though I have never worked with G3s. If you avoid getting the roots too wet, the body of the hair should stay, at least in my experience. Adding some conditioner to the warm water would make her hair sleek and shinny too if you want to add more to the process.

Agreed with Aintnobuffalo. Also, if you gently comb the wet hair over the way you want, then wrap a piece of paper towel around the pony's neck to help hold it in place, then let the whole thing dry, you should have success retraining the hair to lie the other way.

Yes as others have said you need to "set" the hair - dampen the hair, add a small amount of conditioner and then position as you wish it to be (make sure to hold it in position - with ribbons) and then pour boiling water over the hair. Leave to dry. :) Depending on how stubborn the hair is you may wish to set it a couple of times.

Will the conditioner just dry on its own when I use it? Or should it be rinsed out?

I only use a teeny tiny teeny bit - just makes holding the hair in position easier - when you cover the hair in the water it should be enough to rinse the small amount of conditioner out. It really is just something to make it a little more easy to work with (I have used baby oil as well in the past and you dont need to worry about washing that out).
