to bait or not to bait, that is the question.
« on: July 18, 2013, 02:32:14 PM »
hello ladies and gentleman,
finally i got more time for my own stuff again and started with sorting ponies and preparing my mega-brag.
some new ponies are in planning for customizing and i am not sure, which of my newest fleamarket finds -can- be used for rehairs or customs and which should better find a loving home without beheading first. ;)

so, here are the girls from my last find:
(sorry for the blueish pictures, i still need to leanr about the camera, settings and afterworks )
visitors can't see pics , please register or login

she has a skipping rope for a symbol and pink freckles. i have no clue who she is, her body and hair is fine, no rub offs or such.

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

italian curly bowtie, ifound her with a dread for hair, even with glue in it. when itamed it, i saw she has a lot of haircuts and a few rub offs on her eyes and symbol.
i would like to rehair her, maybe alternate. is she a save candidate for that?

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

such a lovely girl , originally had curls and such a perfect haircolor, but sadly the 3d symbol is missing on one side. *facepalm* would she be save to customize into a merry go round?

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

swirly wirly, she still smells, but i can´t say of what, just that it is artificial. XD symbol and face is allright - would it be okay to customize her too or should she rather go to a collector?

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

love melody, bleached out and a haircut - it´s save to give her a new mane?

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

she has acut mane and mayor symbol rub, i would love to make an g1 alternate pose custom out of her, but maybe the symbols have bleed into the body.

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

merry threat, her mane has been rescured from being a dread. its soft but you can stil see that it has been frizzy in the end. the symbols are fine.

so, what do you think?
i would feel bad for beheading a pony someone else is looking for since ages, so what is your thought about it?

( edit: swirly is traded and the princess is on hold)

None of those look like they are in bait worthy condition. The worst one is the princess pony without the 3D symbol... but she could possibly be a nirvana. And it is NEVER a good idea to bait a nirvana! I once bought a bait lot off ebay because it had some nirvanas in it.

I wouldn't bait Swirly Whirly, that's her more sought after german version, the HK version has yellow hair  :)

I was just going to post that! I had to look her up in Deb's Nirvana book. The book says she could be worth $30-$65. Not a pony to bait!

ETA: Princess Royal Blue is also German.

holy pony! O-O
wow, i didn´t know that, thank you!
how about rehairing italian bowtie and/or love melody? love melodys symbols are completely white and her mane is cut.

i guess the SHS has apart brokenoff her earring, color mismatching and rubbed of symbols ans the cut hair, doesn´t that classify for a bait? i wanted to turn her into a SHS pillowtalk, should i rather give her to someone on the arena instead?

"skipping rope for a symbol" - UK School-Time Pony Play-Time

"bleached out and a haircut" - TAF Love Melody - She looks like the normal US/UK release. You can rehair her to restore her, but I wouldn't totally bait her.

"she has acut mane and mayor symbol rub" - Glittery Sweetheart Sister Ponies - Bright Night

Bowtie - I would sell her as is.

I personally wouldn't bait any of those, but especially not the nirvanas (Bowtie, Princess and Swirly Whirly).

Love Melody and the SHS look like great alternate rehair candidates though!  :)

wow, good thing i asked first, thank you!! especially sailorstitch!
yes, i would just give love melody a rehair, maybe alternate rehair in complete white to match her symbols, or shouldn´t even that be done?
i am still very suprised that nor even one counts as a bait, not even bright night. O-O
and not even in another live could i remove the princess hair for the MGR custom.

if someone is interested in these not completely perfect girls, let me know! playtime and merry-threat would probably just sit in a box at my place otherwise.

thank you whippycorn for your thoughts about the rehair!

I'm with the others too - those are definitely not bait ponies!  They'd be great restore projects and I'm sure they would find happy homes with people who love fixer-uppers or even who'd just appreciate them as they are  :)

Not a problem! The nirvanas I got in the bait lot were in a LOT worse shape than any of you ponies. My Italian Parasol has a mohawk! But the thought of anybody baiting a nirvana makes me gag. After I got my lot I posted a poll on the arena to see how others felt about baiting nirvanas. Nearly every single person agreed that it is always better to restore a nirvana rather than bait her.

I'm sure you'll have no problem selling your nirvanas. I'd buy one, but I'm kinda broke right now. ;) I'd post the pictures over in the nirvana board and get a price check on them.

I think an alternate rehair on Love Melody would be lovely!

That Play time looks gorgeous and I'd want her if i had any money right now! Also, Bright Night looks great to me personally as does Merry Treat. Others are nirvanas so I definitely say no to that!

he only one I would tamper with is Love Melody.

I'd take italian curly bowtie in a heart beat as is for the right price XD But yeah none of them look bait worthy to me... more like restore worthy!

Definitely don't bait them, especially not the ones that are not regular US releases. Most of them look quite nice to me! There are lots of collectors who'd be happy to purchase most of those at a decent price in order to fix them up themselves. :)

alright! love melody gets her head off today. ;) the alternate-rehair-thread is very inspiring!

i posted the 3 nirvana girls on the nirvanaboard and see what the folks say there. ;) i´m glad i haven´t beheaded any of them before but its so dull that i have to throw my idea of SHS pillowtalk overboard. meh.

if you are interested in them, i would also love to trade them if i know they come into a loving home and get the appreciation they deserve. ;)
