Pony Corral / New Plush Spike, where the heck is he?
« on: April 26, 2012, 01:43:41 PM »
Ok, so I was at Target about a month ago and there was an end aisle with 5 or 6 of the plush baby Spike dolls. My daughter was choosing between him and the cutie crusader set and they won out. Then, when she had saved up enough to get him he is nowhere to be found. Am I missing something? I have literally never seen him again since that day  :(  Anyone live in Washington State and know of some in a store?

From the picture that does indeed appear to be cancer spots. I would price her somewhere around $60-$70.

Oh my goodness, I really dislike e-checks. I too just had an international buyer purchase a couple large dollar auctions and pay with an e-check. I almost fainted when it said the clearance date was April 20th for mine. I was really needing the money too *sigh* such a bummer...I feel your pain. :(

a hun  no worries. I would have been upset too! Like I said, I was more upset by the juvenile and ridiculous ebay email by tarotmage. I am glad we worked it out and so happy you both are reunited. I even posted her here on the arena in the sales post recently hoping you would see it but never got a pm. I want this stuff gone quickly because it is consuming the twins' closet right now so I figured evilbay was my last ditch effort to get it out the door quickly. I have felt guilty about it for a long time! I just kept holding on to her for that reason. I sent you details through ebay email and can get her shipped out tomorrow morning.

Kiwisquirtbottle, just so you can "giggle" I sold it to her for less.

I think that until details are made clear, it is important to be supportive of the poster but not insulting toward sellers. You never know when that ebay pony seller might be an arena member that will be your next sale/trade partner :( Not good to burn bridges...I will definitely be blocking tarotmage...not a buyer I ever would want to deal with--too risky.
Edit: again Kiwisquirtbottle, sorry to jab at you  Eek, I was grouchy when I wrote this!

Hey Izrabeth, looks like we posted at the same time hun. Drop me an email ;)  Also, I did have proof of shipping and asked if you wanted me to send it to you but you said you trusted me and that the refund was fine. I just wanted to make that clear because that made me sound very shady.

Izrabeth, I am really sorry you are so upset. I did, most definitely ship that pony to you. It is no secret I don't ship to Italy anymore and part of the reason was for your transaction and one other right before it. I had just had a bad Italy experience right before yours came up missing so if it seemed weird I refunded you, it was only because I was defeated and sure after all that time that it was gone for good. I was just trying to do the right thing, I felt bad :( Was it really May of 2011? That was a month after my twins, I don't remember putting auctions up. I thought it was much longer ago than that, like 2009...I got the pony back many months later and tried to find the old ebay sale but couldn't find it. I couldn't remember your info or user name. I even said to my husband when I posted it this past weekend "I hope the original buyer sees this and contacts me" because I felt bad. I emailed you through ebay telling you that you had first dibs on it if still interested. I will pull the auction or I can put up a BIN, whatever you prefer. Obviously I make mistakes, it isn't like I am a perfect seller and have made a ton of mistakes in 15 years. I always try to fix the problem and have accumulated good feedback.

Which brings me to my next issue with all of this. I received this email through ebay:
"If my winning bid doesn't meet some minimum amount your have set in your head, will you tell me you've misplaced the pony and can't ship it, and then sell it later once you've "found" the pony without contacting me?"

  This is hurtful and made me very angry. This was not from Izrabeth, it was from some other ebay user. It was from someone in Texas and someone who saw this thread. Kiwisquirtbottle, I hope it wasn't you but from the tone of your post that is my hunch. The ebay user is tarotmage. Obviously though it was about this issue. I am just trying to get rid of all my ponies so I can be done with it. No scams, not trying to get top dollar...just want them to go away. I felt like she went super high last time. It was like 74 dollars if I remember correctly. I only originally paid 40 for her so no...definitely not trying to get more. Uhhggg...I feel so defeated...can't win for losing. Try to do something nice by giving a full refund and it is "suspicious".  :(  Anway, Izrabeth, if you want her, pm me through ebay and we can work something out.
Edit: The email I got from ebay was not Kiwisquirtbottle. Sorry KSB! Didn't mean to throw you under the bus like that. Just upset by the email and your original tone rubbed me the wrong way  :P  No hard feelings

Not sure if this is the right place to put this and it is a total long shot but I need help with a non-pony auction. If anyone lives in Roswell, Georgia or close to it, please drop me a pm. I am willing to pay someone well for their help :)

She seems really disorganized. I bought my daughter an apple bloom a month or so ago. It took a very long time and I messaged her about it. I wasn't overly worried because it was cheap but still...wanted the pony. She messaged back a few days later and said it had been shipped. I received it shortly thereafter. I told her it arrived and that my daughter loved it. She responded saying she was glad it arrived and so forth. Then, about a week later, I got a message from her asking if I had received Apple Bloom. Very strange...so I think she is a slow shipper and disorganized with her auctions in general.

Trader & Shipping Support / Re: PayPal Money Holds

That is good to know...I have not tried selling anything off of ebay since the hold. I sold off my collection over the past two years and made *gulp* 22,000 dollars in sales last year. You would think after that many successful sales without a single complaint against me that they would not have done this. It is so infuriating...I will never sell on ebay again. Luckily my ponies are almost gone so it isn't as big of a deal anymore. I really wish another site could give them some serious competition!

They did this to me after selling on there for years! I have never had a negative feedback, I always try to be fair. My problem is I am a saturday only shipper so I had two people from Italy (who had items held in customs) and one person from the UK mark my shipping time star rating down. Now I have a forever hold on my paypal account. It has been a while and even though my dashboard shows I am fine in all catagories, I still have the hold with no end in sight. Every month they say they will review my seller practices the next month on the 20th and when that happens, it never gets removed. I don't understand, but I have finished selling there for good. I still have some ponies to offload but I will do that here.
Does anyone know if the hold applies to transactions done outside of ebay as well? I am almost feeling at this point that I might just give the remainder of my ponies to my daughter and call it good. I have been so discouraged lately with selling on the internet. I sure miss the old days...*sigh*

I am also one of those sellers that won't ship to Italy. I have had 3 packages over 6 years (which may not seem like much but can cost a pretty penny...) go missing or destroyed to Italy. Also, because they tend to hold them in customs for an eternity I have had two sellers from Italy (who bid without reading my restrictions) mark down my star rating because shipping was slow. It ended up leading to my dashboard falling below standard and now paypal holds my money for 21 days before they release it to me. It sucks, so no way will I ever ship to Italy again...too many problems.

I have been watching these auctions for a while because it is more exciting to watch than reality television :) I have gotten scary good at predicting which ones will go for 300+ There is some REALLY talented people making these plushies. I actually sent a bunch of links to a couple of my co-workers' wives who sew to try and get them on board. Non-pony collectors think it is insanity but I have been educating them in all things FIM lol.

Pony Corral / Re: Common Ponies becoming Harder To Find?
« on: February 05, 2012, 09:26:49 AM »
I have been in the pony collecting game since the 90's  and it has been interesting to see the eb and flow. When I started, not many people were selling on online sites so ponies cost a pretty penny. Then the ebay craze took over and you could get more common G1s for much much less. Plus you could find them easily at garage sales and thrift stores. Enter the G3s and then ponies took off with a vengence, price spikes everywhere. People saw this happening and started listing ponies so there was an over abundance so prices dropped once again. Then ebay started restructuring fees and so forth. Less people listed ponies and tah dah..a price hike. The boycott didn't last long and soon people began selling and prices dropped. Then enter G4s---oh my goodness! That has been a shocker as I watch homemade plushies go for amazingly high prices. However, due to the economy over the past few years people didn't have as much money to spend so I really do believe people are hanging on to their ponies. I think they are out there to own but right now---it is just a dip and people scared to list. Watch what happens...because common ponies are now going for so much more people will slowly start listing them again. It will drive the market back to a reasonable price. It is like when someone lists a mimic and it goes for an ungodly amount then suddenly the next week there are 8 listed. People just want what the pony is "worth". I have a bunch of lots up on ebay right now of more common G1s and they seem to be doing well. One lot has apple jack, bowtie, bubbles, seashell and so forth. I am selling off my entire collection and am almost done but I do wait for the drops in ponies on ebay before I list. Trust me...they will resurface. I have seen this happen for years...
