Couple of old terraced houses and a hill covered in trees behind them.

I live by an old mill so I am guessing they were workers cottages back in the day. I found pictures of them from 100 years ago not much has changed 😆

Off Topic / Gold fish fry
« on: October 22, 2019, 10:01:05 AM »
So I got home yesterday and it turns out that I am not the proud grandma of several goldfish babies.

I know they had spawned in the main tank but did not realise that some of the eggs had got stuck on some of the plants so long embarrassing story short I have baby fish.

Help is needed please.

I have managed to get them in to a separate tank currently with no filter at the moment as all the ones I own are to powerful for them. But I am performing regular water changes with water from the main tank which is well established and healthy.

Food wise I have ordered some liquid stuff that should be here soon but I am at a loss as to what I should be feeding. I am hoping to just be able to use regular food but ground up so it is small enough for them to eat when they are ready.

Not sure if this is needed but the parents are a female Shubunkin and the father is either a common goldfish or a comet. They are all aged 7 or so and are just a bit longer than an a5 piece of paper. I am certain these are the parents and not a combination of the three Ryukin in there with them. ( please no comments about mixing single tail and fancy fish together they get on fine and the fancies always get to the food first  ).

So my question has anyone any experience with baby gold fish I think I am gonna need all the advice I can get.

Have her one of the few i have of that generation. She had the most matted and discussing hair took ages to redo it. That was years ago now and even though she has being shoved in a box as well as moved house some how it stated the same. (Might be the hair spray i covered her hair in 😂 back when i did not know any better) meh it is still soft and springy it will be fine

I think it is a Calathea (I could be making that up though). Purple under the leaves with green and light green patterns on the top. It closes up when the sun goes down

sounds like a typical calathea look, and calathea behaviour! I'm sorry it didn't make the trip in great condition D: If it's a calathea, do keep the air humid, or spray its leaves! Should bounce back :)

Plant/cutting swaps sounds like so much fun! totally down for that!

Its looking much better now turns our when they stopped off in france ofr a few days they put it outside. When i took a closer look it was riddled in bugs. Managed to get everything off and a week later we seem much happier. And thankfully nothing seems to have passed to my other plants

 my house plants have arrived home from spain. Two have travelled really well just need a few days to recover from the journey. The third though has had a bad time of it 😭 all dried and shrivelled leaves.

I think it is salvageable currently got it in none direct light and just going to leave it alone for a few weeks with a general check in. It needs repotting but i think doing it now would be to stressful for it. Hope it recovers it os such a nice plant

I have her cannot remember which version though 🤪. I wanna say n/c as most of my adult family ponies are for some reason but i could be wrong.

I do know up till last year she had two husbands until one got sold.... to this dsy we are not sure who actually fathered the two children 😂

Sooty for me, we used to go see them live in bradford at Christmas and visit the museum on a regular basis when i was little. Still got the programs, puppets and two rosettes someplace.

This is closely followed by button moon and rainbow 😁

Yep horses are for me... well ponies to be more specific i have ridden since the age of seven and worked with them on and off over the years. I stopped as it took the pleasure out looking after my own when i worked with them.

We are up to four on the yard now all ride and drive. They drive me insane on a regular basis and often get called all the names under the sun.

Honestly i do not believe in the natural horsemanship stuff nothing against others doing it but not for me. I know that all my boys will follow me with little or no request and if you stand there waving round a whip they just look at you as if there is something wrong with you. Two are from appleby, one Ireland and the other the meat man we worked through all the quirks that came with them at their own pace.

Sorry for the ling reply

Yes, with the exceptions of customs one moc (for odvious reasons).

Given the contition I get most of mine in it is safe to say they have being rough much worse than kids playing with them . Plus at the end of the day they are toys (yes now collectors items) but toys none the less so are their to be enjoyed, I enjoy looking at them and kids enjoy playing with them. Otherwise what is the point of having them if who ever has them is not enjoying them.
