Pony Corral / Re: Versions of Megan, including European
« on: April 19, 2024, 01:46:09 PM »
There are variations on the skirt pattern on the 1986 Megan release over here.

I don't think this is a European release though. I think it is entirely a UK release. I'm 99% sure that Megan on the continent, where she appeared, had the US dress, even if the pony was no-country marked.

The wraparound skirt and jumpsuit, I believe, is unique to the UK 1986 release (1987 wore Country Jamboree).

I think their official release date is May, but I may be wrong about that. It may also be the dock issue that's delaying them stateside.

Back from my trip down south. Can report no new plushes down there, only the first three.
The Toymaster franchise stores in Staines and Putney both had the blind bag figures, so I managed to complete my set (no extras, sorry, limited bag space!)

I have a nice photo of Putney's pony range, here it is...

They also had some greater range in G5. I said some, so don't get excited ;) Putney also had Celestials and the 40th anniversary collector ponies.

Epsom had nothing as far as I could see this time. Sutton had Nova and I think the 40th anniversary collector ponies.

All Novas and Polaris etc had the original stripes. No pink ones.

On the non-toymaster front, Fenwicks in Kingston had Nova and a lone plush Firefly in the middle of a doll section. Nowhere else that I saw.

Entertainer in Wimbledon had basically the same as Entertainer here. Which amused me greatly. :)

And TKMaxx somewhere, I forget where now, maybe Epsom? Had a single Rainbow Dash (one with poseable legs?) which must have been there a LONG TIME.

A side-note for anyone unfamiliar with London planning to visit and wanting to hunt ponies.
Spoiler
Most of these stores are in London's outer zones or in Surrey. Just a note if anyone is going down to London anytime soon, Putney has the best selection and is also the easiest to get to from Central London. The store is Kids' Stuff in Putney Exchange on the ground floor. It's very near Putney Bridge tube station on the District Line and several buses stop right outside (including the 14 which goes through central London).

Pony Corral / "Fable" ponies - do we have a definitive list?
« on: April 14, 2024, 04:33:42 AM »
This is really a question for people in Europe, predominately Scandinavia I imagine.

So I'm wondering about the Fable Ponies - or otherwise known as the set released in Europe with the early unicorn and pegasus ponies in. I'm not certain of who this set comprised in total, and I'd like to get that information right. I believe some have been found on cards that do not depict them.

I believe the following ponies were included in the set:

Yellow Moondancer (was white sold as well?)
Green eyed/glitter symbol Gusty
Powder
Firefly
Surprise (?)

After that I am not quite certain.

Can anyone help??

Thanks Ponyfan

UK peeps - if anyone's still looking for them, I found the Basic Fun blind boxes at GAME today! :) They only had two (i.e. not a whole box or anything) but figured I'd pass the info on anyway.

Game? That's unusual :D Thanks for the heads up.

I did see someone posting about finding the long ones somewhere in the US but don't remember where. I hadn't seen the small ones before. Don't think they've appeared here.

I would also go with Buttons for the same reason as PonyBookworm. I love Bangles, though. :) And as a So Soft pony...I think Bangles wears it better. SS Buttons's flocking often gets dingy and loses her beauty beneath the fuzz. Regular Buttons is gorgeous though, and wins overall.

Shockponie, I hope you have good luck finding a better job soon, with a nicer supervisor.

BlackCurtains, I don't see why it's the business of the rental people what you do on your private sales. Is that normal practice over there? I could understand if it were a tax inquiry but not your rental people. Unless that is covered by some other payment scheme?

MintyMagic, that sounds like a nightmare. I'm glad they are honouring the original shipping quote, but the whole thing sounds...so unprofessional to me.

Korean dramas are hit and miss with me. Some of them I really love, some I just can't get into. The last one I watched was also set in a hospital, which is what made me dig out Mayonaka no Ame and rewatch it. I don't remember what it was called though.

This is what I found yesterday:

The Plushies are $39.99 each.

That Twilight wants out of that box xD.

I finally have Medley as of this morning :) My parents' Amazon preorder got cancelled but they were able to get one from somewhere else (she was originally intended as a birthday present). I don't know if they have been seen in stores in the UK yet. I might take a look in the likely places when I go down south. Medley is gorgeous though <3. I'm so glad BF decided to take the initiative and make some different plushes.

OMG shockponie that's terrible    that's horrible to make fun of someone's medical condition. especially your boss. seems like something that should be illegal.

BC, i hope you can get an appointment soon and find out whats going on.

I was going to say, is that not illegal over there?
Here it would be considered workplace discrimination.

There are a lot of times when job adverts are prioritised on internal candidates. I hate interviews and I won't lie, there's a mountain of evidence how they suit people who are good at selling themselves rather than necessarily good at the job. I am NOT good at selling myself, so I find interviews really stressful.

But if they close an advert early, it's not possible to even apply and try and get an interview. Just roadblock after roadblock at the organisation's convenience.

I watch quite a lot of documentaries, anime and asian dramas. Most recently Mayonaka no Ame (Midnight Rain) and Gift (shows from 2002 and 1997 respectively, bit old now but both series I enjoy.)

Mayonaka no Ame is about a doctor and a detective exploring the truth of an accident that affected both their lives 21 years ago. It's mostly set in and around a hospital, but it's a whodunnit really.

Gift is about a guy who was found in a cupboard, unconscious, and who has no memory of who he is. He works as a delivery guy while trying to piece together bits of his memory.

I also watched 1670 on Netflix, which is a Polish period comedy and honestly makes me think of Blackadder :)

Now I don't know what to watch next though.

I like history documentaries, but I'm an older stuff historian really, so not so much for 20th century history shows (of which there are a lot).

I used to watch a lot of US series but I haven't in years. :/ I did rewatch Lois and Clark a while back, actually. That's probably the only one.

I haven't watched any UK made dramas for a while either. They're all unnecessarily hard hitting and gritty these days, and I don't like that.  We used to be great at comedy series, but sadly not any more.

Personally I would keep them as is as a curiosity until more information can be gathered.

The idea of them being moulded from a toy sharing the same mould is a good one. But yeah, if Finland didn't get the toy originally...it's a bit odd them being there. That said, stuff does travel around Europe. Even here in the UK we've found all kinds of things that should not be here but somehow are...

I'm not aware of any official petite pony moulds, though not ruling out someone doing it for themselves. Providing, of course, they aren't real charms painted over by some enthusiastic kid ;)

They are clearly made from/based on charms. The absence of the loop/any sign of a broken loop, however, makes me really curious what's going on with them...

It's happened. MLP has finally just become a head, which is why i guess they kept making them bigger.  Hasbro dumped the body to save costs. Next generation will just be giant eyeballs.

I do think it's kind of cute though, if really, really weird.

Thanks Ponyfan. I hope your Ficus comes through <3.

I did a forensic investigation on the greenhouse today and it looks like the culprit was slug or snail. I evicted a LOT of slugs and snails from the greenhouse after the rain (this is a closed greenhouse, but they still get in), hopefully that will make things better.

I also found another seedling that had unexpectedly sprouted, so I now have a second tiny on my windowsill. We'll see if it makes it.

The gooseberry is in flower and there were lots of bees and ladybirds around today. :D
