Honestly I have found it really hard to find G1s in thrift stores too. eBay Australia prices seem to be a tad inflated than normal, and it actually is cheaper in terms of postage prices to ship in from places like the UK and USA than inside Australia! Though I like to try and support our local sellers where I can.

I am wondering if you've had any luck in antique shops before? If you're Australian that is. I just don't want to keep buying them online because they do seem overpriced. :/

There are no antique shops where I am but the one I visited on the other side of town was far too overpriced. They wanted about $10ea for common G3s that needed a bit of work done. No thanks.
Of course it may vary where you are though.

Isnt there something like an Australian pony meet every year? You can usually pick up ponies at meets or conventions pretty fairly priced.

I think your best bet would be to make a wish list here and not rush into buying ponies :) Check out ebay and the arena regularly and a bargain will pop up.

The arena also now has the Classifieds section where some of us have posted pony adds and, of course, there is always the For sale/for auction subforum. I personally don't use Ebay and get my ponies either locally or through the arena - that way you can be pretty sure your transaction will go well (I've been scammed on ebay so that's important to me).

Anyways, a lot of us have been building our collections for years so, yeah, it's never too late :)

Yea yea yea I only wanted 10 when I started and 170 ponies later I guess all I can say is I had irrational expectations at that point. ROFLOL Never too late to collect, but I would be very surprised if you have the ability to stop at such a low number.

I think the first thing to remember is that on the Arena and, yes, even on ebay ponies are not always overpriced - those are the prices they go for. What you should do is post a thread in the Corral and ask for a value for the ponies that you want to buy - that will give you a good mark of what a reasonable price to pay is and will help prevent you from overspending.

Even the luckiest of us who find ponies locally through markets or shops or newspapers, still have to resort to some buying online. Ebay has dramatically reduced donations to charity shops as instead of popping a box of toys to a thrift shop, a lot of people will try their luck at selling online instead. G1s are 20-30 years out of stores so of course they are going to be harder to find in shops - if you are looking for G1s in general then I am sure with time you ll come across a few but if you are looking for specific G1s out of hundreds you will need to use the internet especially as a couple of the ponies you have listed were not never released in Australia so unfortunately are unlikely to turn up locally.

As Vintergatan says don't rush in, shop around here, ebay and other pony collector sites, have patience and you'll find the ones you are looking for :)

I agree, it is never too late!  :)

Start slowly, write a wishlist and keep your options open.  You never know when you'll get lucky and find some really awesome ponies.  Good luck with the hunt!   :)

If you are willing to pay the shipping from the US, and don't care that they are not Mint, I'll give you:
Applejack
Firefly

I know I have  doubles of these two, and I was thinking of selling, but it's a pain. I'd rather just pass on the pony joy.

I may also have doubles of:
Lickety Split
Starshine

I'm not postitive on those two though....I'm at work, and can't check.

Also, Tulip? Is that a Uk pony? Do you mean Posey? I'm not good with all the G1 UK names.
