How do you arrange your collection?
« on: November 05, 2012, 07:33:19 AM »
After starting to arrange my collection on shelves today, I am finding it hard to decide how best to display them.

I don't know whether to group ponies by colour, pose, group collection!

I have finally decided on colour but this then makes it hard In The future to add without having to move and reorganise all the existing ponies.

I only display my G1's as by daughter plays with the G3's and G4's.

So the big question is, how do you do yours???

I voted other. My lemondrop army stands togehter in a row, but the other ponies are just placed randomly. I like it when they are placed randomly on the shelves. It looks so colorfull ^.^

I do not have a certian way that I display my ponies. Most of mine are still in there boxes and I have it set up so you can see all of them. As for the the loose ones, I have them all set up so you can see there symbol side or there faces. I still have alot of room so I can do that. I picked other cause I do not do any of them listed.

My ponies are placed where they both fit and look nice. On one shelf, I have G1s, G3s, and G4s (in no specific order, of course).

For blindbags, I go by Waves, then "Mini Series", then packaged exclusives (like Toys R US and Walmart exclusive minis)

Mine are loosely displayed according to generation. I really have ponies all over the place, but by generation is the closest they come to being grouped together by.

I only have G4s and they're displayed on my dresser. I've separated them into groups: royals, Mane 6, blindbags, and background/other ponies. :)

Hi! This is a good question. I´m a little bit freaky at this point.
At first I wanted to arrange them by theme (ex: flowers, cakes & sweets, universe...) BUT without repeating body pose and color in the same shelf. This would enhance the differences between ponies.
As the time went by and I get more ponys this became very difficult. So now although I perfectly know where each pony is, I have a little convolut in some areas .
Anyway I always try to enhance the differences. I voted other.

mine has pretty much always been sorted by type, tho once in awhile my OCD kicks in and i think of breaking them up by color or some other way, then i twitch and cant break the natural order of types and end up glareing at the shelves for a few hours until the bf comes home from work and tells me to go lie down. :drunk:

By gen and set! And in the sets, of course ponies in the same pose go together  :lookround: I'm insanely picky about it, lol. I also seperate UK&US issues, and Nirvana's of course. I used to display them in order of release too but I've let that go and put my favourites at eye level :)

By gen and then by pose - I have limited shelf space, so arranging by pose helps them tessellate xD

I guess I group by type...My G3s are gruped by tinsel and no tinsel, then the core group is grouped together, then my mib are grouped together. G1s are ss, baby, big brothers etc. I have run out of room in my display cabinate though, so some are just sitting on my dresser...
