I think it's time for one of these again!
I have no idea what everyone here likes to listen too, and I'm curious. Do you have a specific genre you enjoy? Music from a specific country? You may also list your favourite bands and artists, or maybe you only listen to one band or artist? Tell me!
I'll start! I suppose it's obvious that The Cranberries are my absolute favourite band. I've been a huge fan since 1994 (I was only 7 then, but Zombie hit me like a brick), they would be the band I know everything about.
Some of my other favourite bands and artists:
Spoiler
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Christy Moore
Luka Bloom
Amorphis
Loreena McKennitt
John Frusciante
(Old) Within Temptation
Midnattsol (except the last album)
Moody Blues (especially In Search Of The Lost Chord)
Melanie C (though it's very hit or miss what I like and what I don't)
Creedence Clearwater Revival
Songs written by Huub Oosterhuis, performed by my favourite choir
...And probably a couple more that I forgot to mention.
As far as genres go, I would say that I mostly enjoy (alternative) rock, 90's music, metal, traditional Irish music and guitar based singer/songwriters (like Ralph McTell and Harvey Andrews).
I should probably also mention that I am super random when it comes to my favourite music. My music folder is also filled with "loose" songs, meaning that I only know or love one or a few songs from certain artists. Just a few of my favourite "loose" songs:

...And the list goes on and on!
So enough about me, what about you? :water:
My tastes vary wildly but mostly settle somewhere between Bedroom Pop and Really Obscure EDM Genres That Make Me Sound Pretentious.
I don't like dubstep, but I do like bassline, bass house, french house (really looking to explore this one this break). Really though, I just adore mashcore, gabber, schranz (also looking to explore this one this break), frenchcore, breakcore (but it has to SLAP), j-core...there's probably a few subgenres I'm skipping over. It's sad that a lot of the more hardcore EDM producers end up having committed atrocities. I'm going to throw some of my faves in a spoiler. A lot of it is from Pinkamena Party.

B A B B A-$44,000 (I don't care if this one was made as a joke it's good and just needs a re-mixing)
The 4Lung Summer Album. All of it.
I also really like Lauren Bausfield and her various musical expenditures. Mr. Bungle's first and third albums are great too, I can't get into the second one though. I also really like Lemon Demon.
Gladly!
So first and foremost I'll go over my favorite band. My favorite band is clammbon. They're a bit hard to describe... they're technically pop, but pretty jazz inspired. They've only got three members. A vocalist/keyboardist, a bassist, and a drummer. Their music is generally really chill and catchy. I love them so much, someday I'd like to learn piano/keyboard and it's all thanks to this band. Here's a few select songs of theirs:
-Chicago (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBO-a4Qkw8k)
-Re-Ame (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9wgmwjgpBo)
-Lush Life! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3lCCKXe998)
Alright so... other music I listen to. My tastes are pretty varied, but my favorite overall genre is prog. Progressive rock, progressive metal, etc. Here's some prog artists I listen to (so far, I have a long list of more I'd like to get into). I've linked a song for each artist, if you click on the name. Under a spoiler because the list got longer than I anticipated whoops. I uhhh love prog.

I'll split between pop/popular music and classical. My favorite pop music genres are classic (70s and before) Soul/R&B, Progressive/Psychedelic rock, British Folk/Rock, 70s Soft Rock, and Baroque pop. I also love "brass rock" a short-lived genre in the late 60s and early 70s which was progressive rock with touches of jazz and lots of trumpet/trombone/saxophone!
My pop music interests are rooted a lot in the 60s/70s because I like the instrumentation in that era more than anything since. Bands/groups regularly had a variety of instruments in their music and it was great.
On the classical side, my favorite eras are Baroque, French Impressionism, Renaissance, Classic, and Medieval. I also have a fondness for late 19th century/early 20th century classical (aside from French Impressionism, which I already mentioned specifically - composers like Stravinsky, Holst, and Vaughan-Williams).
I started out with Baroque and Classic, with a little Romanticism. But as the years have passed by I have really gravitated toward Baroque and before alongside that 19th/early 20th century pocket of music. I think it could be best described this way for each:
Spoiler
Baroque: Nice, very non-bombastic instrumentation. Oboe was featured very prominently (my instrument!), and I honestly prefer the sound of the harpsichord over the piano. And musically - lots of counterpoint. Baroque composers also used minor keys more than major keys, which I adore.
Early Music (Medieval and Renaissance): This music took me some getting used to, especially the earlier music with instruments. But now I love those instruments, and I also love the entirety of it - the modes, the unique cadences, the dissonances everywhere (with pieces oftentimes cadencing very dissonant). Also, it has interesting polyphonic textures like Baroque.
French Impressionism: Debussy himself said that his music was purely about beauty. Impressionists were about making music that sounded pleasing, although it was of course, still very much deeper than that. I really adore the move away from tonality and a return to modality.
Other late 19th/20th century Classical: It's hard to lump these composers together. Vaughan Williams and Holst are both fairly similar in being English who took in a lot of British Folk influence. Stravinsky had three different phases, the first being the most famous - Primitivism. When I first heard Stravinsky it was just clashing for me, but much like early music, I grew to love it.
Okay, so seriously, I was just going to mention why I liked each era, but then I went off into a tiny musicologist diversion there, sorry. Lol.
So here's some of my favorite songs and later pieces:
I limited myself to one song per artist in the pop section so I could get a fuller gambit of artists, but still, this is still just SOME of the songs and artists I like. I tried. lol
Stop, Look, Listen (To Your Heart) - The Stylistics (Soul/R&B)
The Unquiet Grave - Gryphon (British Folk)
Blue Ridge Mountains - Fleet Foxes (Indie Folk/Pop)
Light My Fire - The Doors (Psychedelic Rock)

If you would like to see a more comprehensive list, I actually created a YouTube playlist (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLwa1dgrgAv6Uo0U0DNdpHw964GttUlvAJ) not too long ago.
Now onto Classical and Early Music:
Oboe Concerto in D Minor - II. Adagio - Alessandro Marcello (Baroque) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0jNtvTr5AU) (I love the whole concerto, but this movement is simply too gorgeous)
The whole last half or so of the last Act of Dido and Aeneas - Henry Purcell (Baroque Opera) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DtAoWwKqUG8&list=PLwa1dgrgAv6XGwrg95N8jwDDMzudlIjAA&index=3) (It is opera, but it is so beautiful. Dido's Lament is famous for a reason, but every phase is amazing.)
O Sacrum Convivium - Thomas Tallis (Renaissance) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lIMWc88iat8)
Resvellies Vous - Guillaume DuFay (Early Renaissance) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ljKPRsveIk)
Requiem - Gabriel Faure (late Romanticism) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1E67pjXAyQs&list=PLwa1dgrgAv6XGwrg95N8jwDDMzudlIjAA) (I shared one movement, but the whole thing is amazing!)
Art of Fugue: Contrapunctus 1 - Johann Sebastian Bach (Baroque) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8EMwEFZXOE)
Clarinet Concerto in A Major - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lk8BmXvkIWg&list=PLwa1dgrgAv6XGwrg95N8jwDDMzudlIjAA&index=9) (Clarinet students would hate me for bringing this one up, but this is one of the first classical pieces I fell in love with and it is good)
Rose, Liz, Printemps - Guillaume de Machaut (Medieval) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A4Nrd-4Sx-k)
Lasso! Di Donna - Francesco Landini (Medieval) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqQPfBKItqI) (And by a pop artist, too! She does a great job, this is actually a good performance and doesn't sound pop-like in anyway.
Nocturnes: No. 1 Nuages - Claude Debussy (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhqHny34uCk) (French Impressionism)
The Rite of Spring - Part 2: Mystic Circles of the Young Girls - Igor Stravinsky (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6i2XOmQd-4o) (Primitivism/Early 20th Century)
English Folk Song Suite - Ralph Vaughan Williams (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0sC4xbyT5c) (Early 20th Century)
*Takes a deep breath* Okay, that's enough for now!
