Robin Williams - lets remember the good times!!

I just found out from a friend that Robin Williams has died of a apparent suicide!!    All I can think is OMG!!! Is was such a wonderful actor, always so full of life! What is Hollywood going to do now that such a shining star has gone out?

Just past 7 p.m. Eastern time I came home from the mall and opened my laptop to find Facebook jam-packed with this horrible announcement.     He was one of my very favorites.  I was born in 1975, so I remember watching Mork & Mindy as a little kid when it was a new show.  I grew up watching him, I spent my adult life watching him.  He's the last one I would ever think would commit suicide.  I had no idea he was having problems with depression.  I wish he could have gotten the help he needed before he resorted to this.  This is just devastating.  I'm watching Jumanji on Netflix right now as a tribute.

I wouldn't have thought he was the kind of guy to do such a thing. I wasn't quite believing it given all these death hoaxes going around but I guess I see why he would.

Sadly many creative people struggle.  He shall be remembered for all the joy though he brought into all our lives.  I think maybe we should celebrate that in this thread.

He had been getting help with his problems, like depression and addiction to drugs and drink but it looked like that was behind him for the time being... I hope the police find it an accidential death rather than suicide!

I agree!! This wasn't meant to be a negative type thread (even though the topic is negative), I was trying to say that he was such a bright and funny man. So many movies across a whole range of genres! It seems he was a well rounded actor, known for his great sense of humor.

I heard that for a long time he struggled really hard with depression. :/ it was hard to see because hes such a funny and kind man. This is one of the first celebrity deaths that's really kinda affected me in any way. He was such a great guy and im still kinda having a hard time letting it sink in.

I hate this so much. Suicides always make me feel so helpless. I hope he finds more peace in death than life. Scrolling through his IMDb its amazing how many movies I forgot he had roles in.

This is heartbreaking for me. I adored Robin. I grew up watching him in movies and looked forward to his next project. I love Mork and Mindy. Condolences to his family, I can't imagine how his children feel, the frustration, sadness, grief of loss. Sad to see such a prominent loved figure in the entertainment industry pass. :o(  I need to go find my kleenex box.

I just happened to be watching the BBC when the horrible news was announced.  I gasped and my heart started beating wildly, it was so shocking and terrible.  Like mlp4me, I feel heartbroken even though he was only someone I knew from the other side of the television screen.  I haven't been this sad over a celebrity death since Patrick Swayze.  Heck, I am still getting over that one.

RIP Robin Williams. Still can't quite believe it's true.

 I was so sad when I heard this news and my sadness just keeps getting worse. His movies helped me a lot when I was a kid and he could never fail to make me laugh. The world lost a legend. It just goes to show that everybody hurts and is fighting a hard battle all their own. We need to help each other when someone else is down and spread the peace.
