I can whistle tunes, but not the loud kind of whistle.  I think I learned it when I was about six?

I actually can also whistle through my teeth which is bad because I have a tendency of whistling a tune everywhere without realizing it. Then when i'm sitting in a meeting or something I get the "is someone whistling?" or "do you hear that?"

As a kid, yes.  Then came 2 years of braces and now, not so much.  But, at the age of 20 something I could FINALLY snap the fingers of my right hand!!!!!  At 41, I can weakly snap the left.  Must practice that...

Yes, I can whistle very loudly, but not a tune.

I whistle more by inhaling than exhaling. :P It really irritates me when people whistle in stores. No one wants to hear that! If a person near me does that, I do something equally obnoxious until they stop...like sing a song off-key. LOL

I can whistle pretty well. I can't do the extremely sharp whistle with my fingers in my mouth though, but I can summon my dog by a loud normal whistle :) and I can whistle tunes no problem.

But my husband can't whistle at all, and even though I tried to help, we just can't get him to do it XD

When I was a little girl, one of my grandpas used to whistle all the time. He could imitate birds, do an ear splitting sharp whistle, but he was almost always whistling a tune and he did it beautifully!  I haven't known anyone who could whistle as well as he could! I love whistling and annoy my boyfriend to death because wherever we are, I feel the need to whistle if I get bored lol he told me he uses that as our cue to leave ;)

I discovered the ability to whistle when I was a kid accidentally after a lot of practice, so I do think that it is something that can be learned. Now I can whistle loudly by both breathing out and by sucking air in and I can mimic the tones of flute pretty closely. I played the flute through high school because I liked how it could sound like a song bird. Ironically, my whistling was always stronger and more in tune than my flute! XD

When I was little, my grandma would whistle the Andy Griffin theme song  when she was cooking or something, so, i just copied her over and over until I learned to whistle. I was not able to do just one note, I had to whistle the theme song in order to whistle, then I learned row row row your boat and twinkle twinkle little star, then I learned how to just whistle one note by doing that. Then as a teen I learned how to whistle the guns and roses song patience.

I can't whistle but then again, I can whistle to my dogs. That's all I can do. Otherwise it's no.

I used to be able to whistle really well until I got my braces. Ever since I got my braces removed, I can only whistle faintly. I guess my crooked teeth were optimal conditions for whistling?

I can't whistle at all. Not even a tiny bit. And after YEARS of people being shocked and saying its easy and just takes practice, then going on and describing exactly what to do... fruitlessly... it now enrages me whenever someone tries to teach me to whistle. So I've given up. If I need to get someone's attention ill yell and throw something at them. And miss. But hey, if it lands close enough, or breaks something, that's usually enough distraction to get them to pause.

*grumbles about whistlers and sulks away*

My grandmother used to be able to whistle like a pro, and I was so jealous of her! (She was a semi-professional singer, so that may have had something to do with her whistling abilities.) I can only barely whistle. :(
