Any fishkeepers here?
« on: June 07, 2012, 08:13:46 AM »
I know for a fact at least one of you is ;) but, just wanted to see if there are any fellow fish lovers out there?
I just posted an 'introduction' post at my blog about my own fish: http://twinklestah.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/life-aquatic-with-cally-cataroose.html
but I'm curious about yours!

I have lots - mainly bettas, and also some other aquatic creatures like a frog & some snails.
I find the hobby so relaxing and rewarding.
I can honestly say my fish have been my therapy when I have gone through particularly rough episodes with my depression.

So - who else shares the fish love?

I used to keep a fish tank when I lived in Texas (understandably I didn't move it cross country - I gave it to a responsible friend, hehe.)

I had a couple of very hardy banded leporinus, some gourami and a fire eel in a 90 gallon tank.  In college I raised three cichlids named Lock, Shock, and Barrel.  :)

Aww gosh, I love fish! :D I don't have any at the moment because I got a little to upset when my last two died (One got sick and the medicine didn't help him, the other died of old age. I didn't kill them or anything), but I'd love to have a nice tank of them again someday when I'm a little more ready to deal with them dying on me, and ready to commit to cleaning a large tank (I've only had small ones the last few years).

I was mainly a beta girl myself, mostly because of how low maintenance they are. My mother was always convinced everything else was to high-maintenance and would just die :/ But I've had tetras, mudsuckers, a snail, and a few miniature frogs of some-sort as well back when I was a kid and got a 40 gallon fishtank as a present XD. I don't remember who was crazy enough to give a seven year old a 40 gallon tank, but it was awesome.

I just have the one at the moment. A little DT male Siamese Fighting Fish. He's adorable and I love him to bits. I used to have bunches but I don't have the time or space for bunches right now, so there's just Alternity.

I only have one right now, a midas cichlid name King Kedros. I'd like to sell him because I don't have time for him, but nobody wants a big aggressive fish. I used to have tons of tanks, especially in college since its all I could have. My main love is common goldfish. I also love buenos aires tetras and kuhli loaches. I've bred red panda barbs and would have liked more than one spanner barb but the store was out and the big chain stores don't carry them.

Here's Kedros

We've had fish in the past, but don't really have the time or energy right now. :) Mostly bettas, but we did have a tetra tank for a while.

Once we're more settled and won't be moving anymore, we'd like to set up a larger tank again.

I had a beta for a year and a half and he was named cloud. He was a crown tail that was supposed to be the most aggressive betta but he was super laid back. The poor fish survived a disease called velvet and died a year later.

I've a wee fish pond in the garden, which 8 comets and a bronze fantail named Malcolm share. I've had them for about 5-6 years. They were tiddlers when I got them, but the largest (Momma Cass) has grown to at least 15cm in length now. I love them, and Malcolm is awesome. He's such a fat ass... he kinda 'waddles' through the water

I love fish but I'm a terrible owner, since hurting my back. I couldn'tchange the water for my tank and no one will help me, it's been 3 months now the poor thing. There were only two tetra's in there but blergh. I'M TERRIBLE >_<

I love fish!!

I have four platys right now (Alban, Duncan, Kevin, and Simon) and they are adorable.

I had a 75 gallon fish tank with three 8-year-old goldfish a year ago, but the tank chemicals blinded me for a month.

Then, sadly, the tank pump sprung a leak, flooded my home office, and the fish died of toxic shock!  It was an awful year!
