Calling all knitters and crochet
« on: September 25, 2015, 07:25:21 AM »
I got into knitting about 2 years ago. With all the moving and holding three jobs I have taken a bit of a break. In December I was making a simple pot holder for a friend. I took down my notes so that each side would line up easier. Yarn was the same, cast on and off were the same, but some how there is a huge difference in sizes. I do not want to give this to her because it looks like a big mess, but I do not want to unravel it since I took sooooo much time and effort to make it. It took me so long I know she has forgotten it. It's been almost a year. I just feel defeated and frustrated.

Any tips to pull me back up? Anyone has simple patterns or know of places with simple patterns so I can improve my skills?

It sounds like your tension wasn't consistent, it's really common (and sooo easy to do if you're not paying attention. I still have a dodgy tension!).

www.ravelry.com is hands down one of the friendliest communities I have ever had the pleasure of being a part of. There are thousands of patterns in their online database, many of which are free of charge, you can filter them by user-rated difficulties, and there are dedicated forums for technique help. I've heard that knitting simple scarves, etc, is the best practise for stitches. There are various Yotube videos on each stitch, though I sadly can't recommend a particular one (any where the person doesn't waffle on for five minutes before showing barely 30 seconds of the stitch....).

Anyway, do you have any pics of your pot holder? I'm sure it looks great - the best thing about hand-made items is that they aren't perfectly uniform in every way  ^.^
Idly searching for: loose, good condition G4 Blossomforth, Starbeam Twinkle, Plumsweet. TTM Celestia doll's wings Within UK or EU only, please.
Will also take in Pretty Pony Club (UK magazine) fakies.

Thanks for the pep talk. I have finished it and it was not off kilter too bad. I will take a picture here soon. I have it being flatten.
