idk about Power Rangers/Ghostbusters, but Transformers is already owned by Hasbro. Care Bears/SSC aren't Hasbro, right? They probably wanted to keep it to their own properties.

MLP/TF isn't all that odd, they've always been kind of brother/sister franchises (heck didn't they have a comic crossover recently?), but the others do seem kind of... out of nowhere.

They acquired Power Rangers if rumor is true.

I believe they aquired Saban (including Power Rangers) in 2018 and they got the license for Ghostbusters last year. So everything is within their own portfolio of brands/licenses.

I didn't see a topic for this on here yet, so excuse me if it was already shared.
Through an Amazon listing news got out that a crossover collection is coming this year, featuring MLP x Ghostbusters, Power Rangers and Transformers figures. They even got named already:
  • My Little Pony X Ghostbusters Crossover Collection Plasmane
  • My Little Pony X Transformers Crossover Collection My Little Prime
  • My Little Pony X Power Rangers Crossover Collection Morphin Pink Pony

The listing got removed (or is very hidden), but we have the description as we were able to find through a Swedish crawler who picked it up when it was still online (which we also posted, including some of our thoughts, on https://www.mlpmerch.com/2020/05/my-little-pony-x-ghostbusters.html)

Quote
Fandoms collide when My Little Pony meets Ghostbusters for a crossover toy CUTIE MARKS AND ECTO-PLASM Crossover Collection Plasmane is an exciting character mashup 4 5-inch figure has a retro My Little Pony form factor with Ghostbusters-inspired design CLASSIC GHOSTBUSTERS MOVIE-INSPIRED PONY Design and Cutie Mark are inspired by the iconic Ghostbusters story Collect a favorite Ghostbusters look in a fresh and different form factor COLLECT AND DISPLAY Figure is a great way for fans of the My Little Pony or Ghostbusters brand to complete their collections Display your figure in the special packaging Ages 4 and up BUILD YOUR COLLECTION Start a collection with Transformers My Little Prime and Power Rangers Morphin Pink Pony My Little Pony figures

So, outside the board game licenses, Hasbro seems to finally get more creative with a mixture of their brands.

(also, lol, the Power Ranger pony really suits my current title here )

"Made in France for Unica - Kortrijk/Heule/Belgium Otto Simon - Alemelo/Holland EN (c) Hasbro Industries Inc."

So my French Starshine was destined to be sold Belgium and Holland from the looks of it.

Love pkw xxx

Yeah, from what I've seen so far it's pretty unique that the local wholesaler is mentioned on the packaging of non-imports (i.e. no sticker put on by the importer).
Fun fact: Otto Simon is still an active toy wholesaler here in The Netherlands, who's also distributing G4 ponies.

After more than an hour of searching.... I come to the sad conclusion that this logo belongs to a Thai packaging company: http://www.tpppack.com/
And the UPC code belongs to Hasbro, so for all I can find this probably was a local Hasbro factory

Ah, that's a shame. Though, is there a barcode/EAN/UPC code on there? That might reveal something about the manufacturer

(I orginally asked this question in the Nirvana section, but it's probably better off here, with the US collectors ^^)

For our MLP G1 database I have a few "mysteries" left, one of which is the manufacturer of the US-released Fancy Pants Babies (and possibly Thai Mountain Boys too). It is know that they were made in Thailand, but I couldn't find much more than that.

Was is just a Hasbro-owned factory, or was their production outsourced/licensed?
Any help would be welcome! Especially MOC photos of them could lead to more info.

Thanks all, really helpful ^^

@NightGliderSA, would that make Parasol #3 (regardless of variations), or is that one of the ponies pkw refers to? Not that it matters for the answer, but just curious :)
(For now I'll consider Poweder to remain OOAK)

Regarding the manufacturers, maybe some more people might read this post and know anything about it. And I'll open a post on the corral for the thai babies too (assume that's not considerd double posting?)

MLP Nirvana / Some nirvana-related questions for G1 database
« on: April 16, 2020, 12:52:42 PM »
Hey all,

While re-working our G1 database I came across some (for me) unanswered questions of which I hope anyone here knows the answers. I've just compiled them here in this thread so that I won't spam the board with separate posts

Thanks in advance for reading and thinking along ^^

French manufacturer
While reading about French ponies, I see that no place explicitly mentions a manufacturer or distributor. The spotlight post here mentions the factory being located in 'Le Blanc Mesnil', but no company. Was it just a local Hasbro-owned factory, or is anyone aware of another company involved in their production?

Release year of Greek ponies
Does anyone know/remember during which years the Greek ponies were available? Especially the sitting/Easter ponies.

South African OOAK
From what I understand the SA Firefly, Parasol and Powder were considered OOAK. Is that still true or have more been found over the years?

Argentinian CP Flutterbye & Songster
Is it known whether legitimate CP Flutterbye & Songster ponies were ever made? Aside from the bootlegs and mash-ups from after the factory closure.

NC "Spain" Sundance
I know this is a long-running topic, but is there any NC variant of Sundance that was released outside the UK?

Peru Baby Moondancer
This baby is mentioned on the wiki, and I've seen some forum posts online from people who wish to own her, but other than that I can find 0 pictures. Is anyone aware of her existence?

Thai Mountain Boys
I have barely any knowledge of the Thai Mountain Boys, but I know they are extremely rare. Was ever found out how these were marketed? Are they considered prototypes or have these actually been for sale anywhere (with just a handful of survivors)?

Thai manufacturer
Although I read that the Thai babies aren't allowed on the board here, hope I can ask this question in light of the Mountain Boys: were these made by a Hasbro factory in Thailand, or was it outsourced/licensed to another company?

Sorry for the late reply, but let me try to answer your questions.
Part of the update is also some re-structuring and making sets more accessible. Whether that's the exact way you and Katrine want to see it, I don't know.
In our test group we have people from Twitter and Facebook who wanted to join. I believe we have 1 or 2 people in that group that collect Nirvana ponies, but it will probably not cover all countries. I have some remaining questions that I will be posting in the Nirvana section later.
For our sources we did indeed use your website, as well as many other places of course.

MLP Nirvana / Re: German Baby Cotton Candy (Baby Karamell)?

Ah that clears it up, thanks for that!  ^.^ And totally forgot that the Scrapbook has a section for German ponies too, lol

MLP Nirvana / German Baby Cotton Candy (Baby Karamell)?
« on: April 13, 2020, 01:42:04 AM »
Hey all,

While browsing several nirvana topics and the wiki, I noticed that the backcard of the German babies includes a Baby Cotton Candy (named Baby Karamell): http://mylittlewiki.org/wiki/File:Baby_cherries_jubilee_MOC_back_card.jpg

However, on the wiki there is no other mention of this German variant, and I can't seem to find any images of her. The only other thing I can find is a mention of her on Strawberry Reef, without a photo: https://www.strawberryreef.com/Index/G1/Country/germany.html

Does anyone know if was she skipped in this German set, or is she simply the exact same as the regular release? I got really curious now :)

We initially thought of that option, but decided to outweigh having the database available for those who want to keep track of that collection over removing it after launch. Whether you agree or disagree with that choice is a matter of opinion. However, what we did do, is point out clearly on all pages in our 'nirvana' database, that it is subject to mistakes and is a work in progress.
And yes, with the update we went through the G1 data as well. It's not just the code and cosmetics, but we certainly fixed data-related mistakes too. Not saying it will be 100% error free, but we gave it the proper attention after the feedback we received.

Hey all, just quickly jumping in here to acknowledge that the G1 nirvana/international database is indeed not at the level that it should be. That's why, quite some time ago, we decided to revamp the way all G1 ponies will be listed. Part of this is merging all US-based releases and region exclusive releases into a single database, as well as giving more options for browsing, like by country and year of release. A mush-have for this project is also to not interfere with all ponies already in checklists and wishlists.
This update took much longer than we've hoped, but we were (and still are) at a point in our lives where we can't spend a lot of spare time on this project. In the mean time, we decided to keep the G1 nirvana database up as it is, with some major issues fixed, and an included notification that there are issues left.
Luckily, as of this week we're in the testing phase of the upcoming change, and are aiming to realize the actual merge in the next 10 days or so.

I just use the MLPMerch site (even though I wish UK ponies were taken out of nirvana because it's so strange to have them sit there), I used to use a google sheet.

We were told they were going to be. Hopefully eventually they will be. They have made some improvements to the cataloguing (NSS Paradise doesn't seem to be on there any more) so I guess they're working on it. There are still some issues (Truly, Cupcake are listed under movie star ponies rather than their proper sets, and a whole host of Posey problems, not least magenta posey being listed in mainstream under year 3 when the pictured one belongs to Gypsy's set). They have made a real effort to correct stuff we raised in the thread a while back, so credit to them for that. I hope they're going to do more to correct those other errors, as right now it still seems like they're piggybacking the Wiki's bad filing system, but we'll see.

Hopefully in the long run they'll move the UK and European ponies back to mainstream where they belong, but it does say they're still working on it. I guess we just give them time to figure that out. Websites are hard work. :/

We're indeed in the process of merging these together so that UK/EU exclusives and variants are no longer in a separate part of the database. We're making progress, but as this includes some structural changes most of this is not yet visible on the live website.
Actually, we're moving away from a separate nirvana section completely, which makes filtering by pony or color work on all G1s.

I think the same magic needs to be applied to your other browsers too :) Best bet to get it to work is clicking ctrl + f5 when you're on a blank page (or Cmd + shift + r on a mac). This will make your browser forget about that page and retrieve a fresh new version, which should work now.
