coloring with pencils
« on: December 12, 2015, 05:09:24 AM »
If you color a coloring page with pencils, do you seal it or anything to prevent it from rubbing off on other pages?
I recently started coloring with pencils but it keeps rubbing off. I tried "sealing" is with a small coat of hairspray but that doesn't work :(

I've never sealed mine. I guess I just don't worry too much about transfer. Dabbing off the excess dust with a paper towel can help some though.

Yes you can seal it, you just need to look for a sealer that is usable on paper.  I seal mine with krylon, but testor dull coat should work as well.

Put blank papers in between your coloured pages to stop rub transfer.  Putting thick cardboard under the page you're working on can also help reduce it.

I was just about to give the same tip as Baby Sugarberry, I use blank A4 pages to avoid transfer

I also use just plain, white copy/printer paper in between pages. Especially with cheaper coloring books these days, there's SO MUCH ink transfer when you color! Anyone else come across this?  >_<

I started using colored pencils for coloring books a long time ago, because I found crayons to be too greasy and you couldn't get the finder details like you want to with crayons, plus as you mentioned--rubbing.  I usually don't have issues with that unless I swipe away dust or broken bits of pencil and it smears in certain spots.  As far as sealing I can't offer advice, sorry.
