This just occurred to me yesterday morning when my hubby, while getting ready for work jumps and goes "Eeeee! Spider!" (yes, he's a teensy bit arachnophobic ; why would anybody EVER watch that stupid movie, 'Arachnophobia'??? :drunk: )
As I rushed over, not to save my poor shrieking husband but to eagerly see what type spider he had encountered it occurred to me that I miss my spider friends!! :silly:
We live in a house that is over 100 years old and though it has been beautifully restored many years ago, between the months of April to November we have a plethora of insects that move into our home (much to the cat's delight and my husbands scorn) including several species of spiders. Here it is February and we have very, very few spiders living inside or outside the house.
And apparently I miss them. XD

I'm actually feeling a little bit the same right now. I'm sure it will pass when I encounter another spider, though!
We live in an old building and there's a certain type of large black house-spider that we find frequently. They don't build webs, so they just like to turn up in unexpected places hoping for a meal. I haven't seen one in weeks now, and I'm starting to wonder where they are! I know that when I see one, though, I'll wish they were still gone!

I LOVE spiders...you can never have to many! I have a spider tattoo and six pet tarantulas. Before I split up with my ex and lost my home I had over three hundred tarantulas...haven't got the room for them anymore, I miss them :(

I tolerate most spiders, although black widows make me freak! :scared: We usually just have little bitty ones that like to hang out on the ceiling all year round. I'll leave them alone BUT there is a rule they must obey. NO DANGLING IN MY FACE! If they dangle, they get escorted outside. Sometimes they take care of the fruit flies and gnats too.
My tolerance is inversely proportional to their size. Smaller spider = bigger tolerance. If we had one of those humongo ones as big as a clock face, I'm outta here! :bolt: I don't mind tarantulas too much though.

Im ok with them from a distance but ill freak if they enter the house or are to close.
After the ladybug infasion, I have no tolerance for them, either. There was a point there would be 3 or 4 in the house per room....and they bite!

Wha?!! I've never been bitten by a ladybug and I have hundreds move in the house every winter. Are you sure you didn't have a bad dream, MA?! :silly:

I like ladybugs, but I don't like their bites! It's just the tiniest nip, but it doesn't exactly feel like a friendly tap. XD I remember the first time I got nipped by one when I was little. I had some powdered sugar on my finger (been eatin' cake), and let a ladybug crawl on that finger. I love them and love letting them crawl on me, but when it bit me trying to eat the sugar, I about jumped out of my skin! Never before had I known them to bite. That little guy went straight out the window to go bite someone else, let me tell you!
I know ladybugs eat aphids, and aphids produce a sugary substance that ants eat....So maybe aphids taste sweet to ladybugs, and that's why the little jerk bit my sugary finger? XD I've been nipped a few more times since then, but I don't remember if I had anything sweet on me at the time.

Oh how I love spiders ^^ My dad was moving some building materials the other day and uncovered a tarantula that had hunkered down for the winter. I scooped it up and played with it for a few minutes until I found a nice little hidey hole that dad would not be disturbing this season.
(also, my boss is highly arachnaphobic, so I have to save him from spiders when I am at work. Oh our big strong National Gaurdsman...)

kCherry- That is adorable. I absolutely love spiders so you made me giggle a little bit with your husband's reaction. My little sister is the same way and she was living with me for a while.
When i was younger I could never let anyone kill one around me, i would put them in a cup and bring them outside because i knew that someone would kill them if they were left inside.

It's so nice to hear that there are people out there who love spiders :) I personally am really afraid of them, but I never kill them or anything like that... its not their fault that they look frightening :P

Chinese or false ladybugs bite...and they also pee on you (which is actually blood....they pee blood. @_@)
As far as spiders I like daddy long legs....I actually freak out because of tiny spiders and not bigger ones...tiny jumping ones bites are so painful (for me anyhow!)

I really like jumpy spiders, they're so cute! :) And daddy long legs, I let them hang out in my room. I don't like whitetails, they're freaky :S
I didn't know there are tarantulas in America, are they the really big ones the size of your hand? I think they look cute but I dunno if I'd feel that way if one crawled up my leg. lol

I have heard that there are tarantulas is southern Texas (which is where I live), but I have never seen any running around.
I myself have 1 pet tarantula. He still is a baby and has a bit if growing to do. Very sweet tempered.

tiny jumping spiders are the only ones that make me kind of weirded out... I am not a fan of things that jump on me...
it is the "startling factor"

I can personally attest to seeing a real live wild one out in the deserts of Arizona. I remember my brother sitting on a large rock and I saw one crawling around onto the rock. I casually said, "oh look, a tarantula." I looked back up in my brother's direction to see he'd moved about 100 feet away in 5 seconds. XD

This reminds me of a kinda funny story. I was once at my ex boyfriend's house and we were laying on his bed watching tv together. I saw a spider crawling along his wall and it was near the ceiling. Suddenly it just....fell. And it made a tiny thump noise on whatever it landed it in. It made me LOL. Apparently the fall didn't hurt it too much because a few minutes later it was traveling across the wall again.

I used to have a baby huntsman that lived in the kitchen I named it Hunter. It dissapeared for ages then tonight there was a giant huntsman I the laundry. Scared the heck out of me. :S Feel free to keep it KCherry :)

As odd as this is....tarantulas don't bother me at all. I've never held one but I'd love to. But the small ones you find around the house? They give me the chills and make me wanna scream.
I wonder what instills arachnophobia in people? I mean.....it's so small that it can't hurt you (unless it's poisonous of course). But it doesn't stand a chance against a human. I think they just look freaky....with the eight legs and all.

I LOVE spiders :D Ever since i moved to Iceland I´ve missed the ones they don't have, like Daddy Long Legs (my all-time favs)
On the other hand, now we have a lot of orb-weavers :D Makes our garden look like magic in the summer :)
also, I'M LOVING THE PICS!!! It's wonderful to see so many spider fans here :)

Ogod, I cannot take spiders eeeugh blech gaaaag. I can take looking at pics of the big hairy ones, but even a pic of any other spiders and I just can't do it. Except....there was this video online of a big spider burrying itself in the sand in a hilarious fashion.

spiders are awesome and i had one in the return center today it was a female jumping spider. You can tell my the legs in front of the fangs. if they are long and slender it is a female spider if they look like they have a round part on the end it is a male.
