The Dollhouse / Re: PC on MH dolls?

Gil will be $160-200 Unless by "no accessories" you mean nude.. then maybe on the lower edge of that spectrum.

Toralei I sold recently for $49 nude, probably $60 or higher for yours.

Those are the only two I know off the top of my head.. but you should always check ebay and look at the recent history for ones that have sold lately.

And iPod is essentially an iPad mini. I have no idea why they bothered to make an iPad mini, because it's just another iPod. Since they are all the same thing, I guess you could look at it as  Small, Medium, and Large LOL

They are pretty intuitive to use. It's hard to explain how to use them because they are so simple. But if you are curious to know how to do something specific, or if it can do something special, please ask. :) Otherwise, just play around with it a bit and I bet you will have it mastered within minutes.

I would message the seller and tell them that since you used BIN, you were unable to request a combined invoice, and could they please refund the excess shipping.

Just tell her "Well, you have 4 days to pay, and then I will open an unpaid item case with ebay. Ebay will give you 4 more days to pay before they penalize your account. You will need to pay within that time frame."

Then stick to it. And if she doesnt, then send a second chance offer to the other bidder. And be sure to add her to your blocked bidder list.

The Dollhouse / Re: What are you working on? (Custom MH projects)

I have seen it suggested Testors Dullcote on the body, and MSC on the head because MSC will flake off of the body, but TD will not. Of course, if it's going on over a layer of paint, both should work fine.

If you don't want to sculpt you can sew her a mermaid tail. I have a barbie one laying around that I altered to fit my MH girls.

I understand the debt thing. But at least once you get him legal, he can start working and help you pay off some of that debt maybe? :)

As to lighting, when I can't go outside I use three lamps to light my photo area. I need to find "Daylight" bulbs for them though because I still have to go in photoshop and edit out the yellowness of my pictures. I'm told if you get bulbs that have a blue tint to them then it helps to cancel out the yellow effect, but the ones I have don't seem to actually do that.

I just have cheap little $10 desk lamps from WalMart, and a standing "Tree" lamp I already had. I use the tree lamp to light from above, and the desk lamps one to either side, with a sheet of .97 poster board as a white backdrop, or some white fabric.

Just grab a sheet, and all the lamps in your home and crowd them around the table, prop them on books and stuff. Drape the sheet over a box to make a backdrop. And take way more pictures than you think you will need. You never know when two identical pictures will differ in some minor way that makes a huge difference. Like a shine on the paint near the symbol, or a flaw like a speck of dirt being magnified because of the angle. It sucks to have to go back and take more, so I just take like 20-50 from a variety of positions.

Good luck honey! Ebay and Etsy can be scarey, but as long as you describe your item well, and send it with tracking, then you should be OK. The annoying part is when people bid then don't pay >.<

I honestly think you need better pictures for selling.

Collage type pictures are great to show off a pony in passing when you don't want to post multiple pictures, but you cannot really see good detail with a jumble oh photos in one image.

Also, some of the photo sessions look like they took place indoors at night. There is a lot of shadow and poor lighting. You want brightly lit pictures that don't wash out the pony, and don't cast unflattering shadows. Your best bet is to go outside for photos on a nice sunny day. Take more pictures than you think you need.

Take detailed close up photos. If you have a camera that allows for a Macro setting (flower icon) then use that and they will be much clearer.

Don't size the photos down, or if you do, put a link to the bigger high resolution photos. If I am going to buy a pony (or anything) I want an image as big as possible so I can see all the tiny details.

As to selling things fast.. You can always put them on ebay and link people to buy them there. You can set a reserve price for them if you absolutely don't want to go under a certain amount. An alternative is Etsy. Etsy is very craft oriented and has a customer base already built in. You stand a better chance of drawing customers simply having your work posted on Etsy, than you do having it posted to Weebly. Im not really sure what Weebly is, so maybe I'm wrong?

Hope you find something that works for you. *hugs* Worst case scenario, can you get a bank loan?

The Dollhouse / Re: Monster High Toralei wave 1, whats with the price?
« on: April 26, 2013, 06:28:30 PM »
Gosh, I hate to ask for another - help thread so quickly, but I wasn't expecting to get Catrine so quickly..
I've been looking to get Toralei, the original release of her with that pet of hers, but.. the price? what's with it? Can you still get this one in shops in the uk or is it a super rare? ;_; Would anyone know where I could even start looking, because £60-100 is insane to me XD
anymore info would be amazing. shes so gorgeous!

Super rare due to her not being in shops any more :( I sold mine nude and she went up to $48. I prefer the newer body (hips and tail) but her signature outfit. So I passed on my old doll.

so it's not just a faulty 'read' system, or forgetful people ... it's a little of everything ...

Complete agreement here! I don't genuinely believe people hate me ;) It's just a petulent moment when it happens. Kinda like little kids singing the worm song. "Nobody likes me, Everybody Hates me, Guess I'll go eat worms!"

Happens to me too.. I always just assume that someone else PMd them before I did and that they don't want to bother telling everyone the item is sold, so they just delete the PMs. That or they hate me and would rather keep the item than sell it to me >.>

The Dollhouse / Re: Full body repaint questions:)
« on: April 26, 2013, 12:57:43 PM »
Just based on tutorials I have read, no experience whatsoever..

The bodies have a mold release agent on them that repels paint. You have to remove this first or the paint flakes off super easy. You can do this one of two ways.

1. You can sand the entire body lightly with a super fine grit sandpaper, then wash and dry it.
2. You can wipe the body down with pure acetone.

The problem with 2 is that acetone will eat through the body pretty fast. So you have to wipe the doll down really fast and wash her. It's tricky not to damage her, but if you can manage it, this way removes the mold release agent pretty fast.

The paint will come off in the joints. Be prepared to have the joints stay the original color unless you set her in one pose and never move her ever again.

Automotive vinyl spray paint CAN work like magic on these dolls. There are tutorials that show it adheres well to the body. On the head, it becomes part of the head. I have seen pictures of a painted head being squished flat, and showing no paint cracks at all.

Its hard to paint the body well and have it actually look nice, but if you can manage it, you get a lot of customizing options opened up to you. Good luck!

The Dollhouse / Monster High Discussion 16

I love Lagoona, but I am not really happy about the sudden and dramatic color difference. Monster from the lagoon sounds more to me about swamps, slime and such. Does this mean a permanent color change for Lagoona?
Apparently, in the 13 Wishes movie, Howleen makes a wish that turns Lagoona into a freshwater monster instead of a seawater one. It would appear that this involves her going all neon. It is not clear at this time whether this change is permanent, but I would say it's a fairly safe guess that it is not.

Wow that's awesome! she must do it for Gill.

I have to confess that I didn't like her when the first  proto pics came out, but now in this new pic she looks mush better  :frolic: , she looks different from the last Lagoonas who looked very boring to me mostle the dance one.  -_-

I don't think Lagoona would have wished herself to change like that. She was very much all about showing that people don't need to be the same race to date or make friends. Howleen probably just thinks she's trying to help and so makes a very misguided but well-intentioned wish.

A friend of mine on Google said it happened about 3 years ago. Not sure how accurate that is.. She also said that they made it do if you didn't post enough you got your access limited. She left when they started all that, so here's hoping that changed! Im currently waiting for my access to be approved.
