Seller not responding to invoice or messages?
« on: January 25, 2015, 05:53:36 AM »
Hi all, I won two G2s on eBay on the 20th. I noticed they were from the same seller, so requested an invoice for the total postage cost (it was listed at £2.90 per pony, and it's £2.80 usually, but I've had plenty of sellers do two or more ponies for the price of the one bubble mailer) I didn't recieve any response and eBay was nagging at me to pay for them. The total as it stands now is £5.80 total postage and about £8.50. I can pay that right now if I needed to but am absolutely sure I can get a better deal on the postage because I've had tons of ponies come before from the same sellers who have all combined postage for me.

I sent the seller a message a few days ago and recieved no response. I sent another invoice. Today, I try to request a total directly from the payment page, and it tells me this seller does not accept combined postage.

I'm really confused and I don't know what to do. I don't understand why it would let me request two invoices asking for a combined postage total, and then tell me the seller won't let me, or why the seller is not responding to me. I can pay the £8.50, but £5.80 postage is really steep for 2 G2 ponies, and they're only commons I picked up because they were cheap. If the seller doesn't want to combine the postage, why won't they reply? Why did ebay let me request totals two times before telling me I can't?

Sellers are not required to combine postage. If they aren't responding, I don't think there is much you can do. :(

Ack, £5.80 is a steep shipping cost for two G2 ponies. It's also weird that the seller isn't responding. I think that if you have time before Ebay gives you strikes for unpaid items, you should send the seller another message, just in case he missed the first one and the invoice requests. Did the seller say he combined shipping on the auction pages originally? If not, you do, unfortunately, have to pay the £8.50, since the bids are a commitment (unless you can reach the seller and work something out with him). Good luck!

I honestly don't remember if it did or not - it was more that I noticed two ponies I won came from the same seller so thought I'd send along an invoice.

I've messaged them again explaining that if they don't want to combine postage then I am totally ready and able to pay - I wouldn't have bid on both if I couldn't. I'd just like to know what is going on!

I've sent yet another message today explaining I am unhappy with being ignored, and that I will pay the £8.50 tomorrow if I recieve further lack of response. I explained I would have happily paid six days ago if I had been responded to after the first invoice or the first message. I never had any problems paying the £8.50, as said I would not have bid on both ponies if I could not afford or was not willing to do so, I never bid on eBay if I cannot pay the final amount immediately.

I know he can't leave me poor feedback, but all of my ebay feedback commends my fast payment, and I am frustrated I've let my own standards down by being ignored. I am ready to give this seller a neutral for the poor communication. I absolutely know he won't be charged £5.80 for two ponies. I understand he isn't obliged to offer combined shipping, but if he'd just said that after the first invoice there would have been no problem.

It's really frustrating when a seller just ignores you *sigh*  some people don't seem to understand how important good communication is :(  It's not your fault that you are late paying   All the seller needed to do was to tell you if they didn't offer combined postage, and they have had a decent amount of time to reply. If the person sells lots of stuff then sometimes it takes longer for them to respond, or sometimes messages or invoice requests don't go through -  but you've sent more than 1 message and invoice and its been almost a week.
I think it would be fair to at least ding the stars on communication and maybe shipping costs , but you have to wait and see what the ponies are like  before you leave feedback/decide if it's worth a neutral etc

Thanks guys :hugs:

I paid on the 27th, and as predicted, no dispatch or anything yet. They're supposed to be sent by Hermes tracked delivery, but I am not expecting a tracking number from them even if they do dispatch. eBay of course won't let me open a case until the 5th of February but I know they won't be coming. I just know =(

An unexpected bill came up in the week which means I'm down to my last £50, and though I am not in debt to anything or anyone and getting paid in two weeks, it is frustrating to be £8.50 down and nothing to show for it.

The seller even got positive feedback on the 24th, implying they have been active since my first message and winning the auction on the 20th. They still have active listings, and no notifications on these listings that they are away. I don't know whether to send another message asking about the dispatch of the ponies, or just to leave it since it will inevitably not be replied to and I'm finding it difficult to stay polite.   :cloud:
