Off Topic / I did it! (self-published my book)

Hi, everyone!
Some of you might remember my previous post from about six months ago about wanting to self-publish my book but being very afraid!

Well, I did it! I really did it! :D
I decided to use Createspace for most services and also Elance for editing help. What a long journey it was. And it definitely ended up costing more than I thought to make it more polished.
I still have some nerves about getting bad reviews and that kind of thing. But I am proud of myself for following through with it, and I am so motivated to keep writing. Maybe there is a best-seller in my future. Who knows? :)

Pony Corral / Re: Complete Collections
« on: February 14, 2015, 04:47:43 PM »
I recently completed my U.S. G1 ponies, but not including petites or plushes. I would guess I am maybe at about 80% for G1 accessories, and that is my main focus now as well as being on the lookout for affordable MOC and Nirvana favorites. With ponies it seems like there is always more to collect!

Pony Corral / Re: POTD 2/13/2015 Plush Firefly

Due to lack of space, I am not seeking the plush yet, but I think they are so cute, and the open-mouth version of Firefly is the one I would choose first.

Is there a reason to tell the buyers when you will leave their feedback? It seems at least this buyer thought you were hinting at feedback extortion. People read things in different ways, so maybe mentioning the feedback at all would cause the same issue no matter how you word it. Maybe better to just say the part about how you are happy to work out any problems that arise. Just my opinion!  :)

Pony Corral / New pony smell!
« on: January 10, 2015, 04:09:08 PM »
I was lucky enough to get a pony case with ponies in it that still have new pony smell. They seem to have been played with very gently, a few having braids and a few wearing Pony Wear. I think the smell was probably preserved so well because they were always kept in this case. My husband has been teasing me for wanting to sniff these ponies. Ha ha!

My question is, if I put them on display on a shelf that is not enclosed, will the new pony smell disperse, in the way that smoky ponies seem to air out? If so, maybe I should just keep them in the case. I dislike the idea of them being doomed to live in a case forever. A couple of them have pony wear stains/age spots; I suppose I could just keep those ones enclosed.

Ha ha, am I crazy? If I ever have a pony museum, I will have to offer free smells!

Pony Corral / Re: Were you collecting online in the late 90s? Nostalgia!
« on: January 10, 2015, 11:11:33 AM »
I remember drooling over the ebay ponies in the late '90s; and Dream Valley as well; though I never joined any forums until recently. The first ponies I bought from ebay were in 2000, and I remember there was a whole communication process with ebay back then where you contacted your seller and you were like, "Hey, I'm going to send you a check." LOL. I had my first credit card so I was fine with paypal, but some sellers didn't use paypal.
I sat down in my dorm room and wrote my check out (spending money from my summer job) and walked that mail down to the college mail center. And then when my ponies came they put a slip in my little mail box that a box had arrived. I only bought very cheap lots and it was definitely a surprise as to what condition they would be in. I still have my Flat Foot Minty from those days. I had no means of cleaning ponies in my dorm other than figuring out for myself that nail polish remover worked pretty well on marks and even using my hair straightener on the dry hair sometimes.
Memories!
