Trader & Shipping Support / Suspicious Seller on eBay selling G1 MOC ponies
« on: November 04, 2015, 03:55:14 PM »
After discussing this with the mods, I wanted to make a post to make everyone aware of a suspicious seller on eBay selling G1 MOC ponies.  As a backstory, in April 2013, I purchased a lot of MOC G1 ponies from a seller with 0 feedback from Iowa, USA.  After I won the auction, the seller wanted me to pay outside of eBay.  Long story short, the sale never happened and eBay was contacted.  The seller received similar feedback and soon after was no longer a registered user.  Here is the past thread on that seller if anyone is interested in reading:

http://mlparena.com/index.php/topic,329826.30.html

Fast forward to Oct 2015, and I came across some of those same exact ponies on eBay again from another seller with 0 feedback from Iowa, USA.  There were multiple distinguishing factors and I know for sure they are the same ponies I won back in 2013.

The seller's ID is cass.ce9aio.

The situation just seems very suspicious and I want to warn other collectors because they have recently listed multiple auctions with MOC G1s, just as they did in 2013.  The seller has since received some positive feedback, but not for ponies.  While this is not a confirmed scammer, in my experience scammers will often build up a small amount of feedback first.  I'd hate for collectors to get scammed by this person if that is what they are out to do.  If anyone has any thoughts or experience with this person, feel free to share.

Pony Corral / Comparing Beachcomber's and Seawinkle's floats
« on: May 23, 2015, 01:22:46 PM »
Since both Beachcomber and Seawinkle came with pink alligator floats with blue/green spots, I was wondering if anyone knows if there are any differences between the two?  Does one float have greener or bluer spots in comparison to the other one?  Or is one float a brighter pink than the other?  If anyone by chance has a MOC Beachcomber and Seawinkle, feel free to share pics :D

Thanks for the help!!

I've had this Morning Glory in my collection for a long time- I'd say about 15 years.  She came in with a lot of ponies from eBay during one of its earlier years.  I always just figured her tail was lost and then replaced with this one by a child's parent, but looking at her recently, her head looks factory sealed (will not budge!) and it does not look like it's ever been removed.  I feel like it may be impossible to securely re-tail a pony without removing the head, so I wanted to get your thoughts on if you think this could have been done by the factory.

She rattles softly when picked up, but the tail is firmly secured.  Her wing "button" is missing but the plastic piece covering her back also looks very secure and factory sealed.

Does anyone know of a green tailed Morning Glory prototype, say, in one of the pamphlets?  If she were a prototype though, I feel like they would have made her mane match the tail. (I like the idea of green hair on her!)  Her tail looks to be the same color, texture, and length of my flutter Wind Drifter, so perhaps the factory gave her Wind Drifter's tail by mistake?  Though Wind Drifter was a later release I thought, so not certain that could be possible...

Hi everyone,

Really would like advice on this situation.  If you like to solve murder mysteries, grab some popcorn and coke and pull up a chair :P

First I will preface this and say this is non-pony related, but the seller has listed many vintage toys, so it is possible he will list ponies as well as non-pony toys that members of the pony community collect.

A friend of mine purchased 2 of my childhood dolls from this seller, and she had them sent to me as a surprise gift.  The dolls were MIB.  They were purchased on 8 Jan 2015.  The dolls were shipped 5 days later on 13 Jan 2015.  My friend paid the seller right away, and was charged $14.10 for parcel select shipping (slow rate in the US), and had no communication from the seller that he would take 5 days to ship them.

When I received them on 17 Jan 2015, the dolls were put in a box that was too small for them with NO padding or anything else to support them, and their boxes were damaged.  Not horribly damaged, but definitely not fixable.

Not only that, but per the USPS online shipping calculator, if he had sent them PRIORITY mail, it only would have cost him $7.36.  So not only did he make a profit on shipping and did not communicate that he would not ship right away, but now the items are damaged.

My friend politely messaged the seller on 17 Jan 2015 with her concerns, and asked if she could be refunded for the amount of shipping she was overcharged, as well as a partial refund for the poor packaging and damage.  There was no response, so on 22 Jan 2015, she sent another message to please respond to the previous message.

The seller responded on 23 Jan 2015 with this exact message:
I apologize for everything. My gf had emergency surgery while we were on vacation and didn't make it through, keeping me away from town for much longer than originally planned. I had my nephew do his best to package up and ship the items for me that had sold. It was my only option. I can refund you $5 if that helps. Once again. I apologize.

Unfortunately with how the world is today, it is often difficult to determine the difference between a real life tragedy and a scam.  So per his story, the alleged death was likely between the time of purchase on 8 Jan 2015, and the ship date of 13 Jan 2015.

Within 5 minutes of briefly investigating on a popular social media site, I discovered that on the day the dolls sold on 8 Jan 2015, the seller’s gf publicly posted that they were out of town at the beach.  On 15 Jan 2015, the allegedly dead gf was still posting pictures.

So sounds to me that this seller never removed his listings prior to leaving for vacation, and falsified the death as an excuse for the delayed shipping and poor packaging.

I also feel it is unfair that he is only offering a $5 refund.  My friend and I were thinking it may be best to keep the situation strictly business related, and respond back re-iterating she is requesting a higher refund due to the overcharge and poor packaging, and not even mention the “death.”

What do you think of the situation?  What is the best way to handle it?  Not sure if eBay should be notified?

I’d be happy to PM mods his eBay name.

Edit to add eBay name

Pony Corral / Good Prices for G4s at Kroger in the USA
« on: November 12, 2014, 06:59:32 PM »
I was shopping at Kroger (grocery store) today and I was surprised to see that they had a bigger selection of g4s than I've seen at Target and Wal-Mart.

The "Snow Globe" princesses were $7.99, regular brushables were $3.99, and Breezies sets were $9.99.  I don't actively collect G4s, so I am not current on their prices everywhere, but these are the lowest prices I've seen, so thought I'd share!  ;)

Pony Corral / Found spice shelves that make good display risers!
« on: October 23, 2014, 08:04:19 PM »
Hello everyone :)

If you have an Aldi (discount grocery store) near you, they are having a sale on spice shelves for $4.99 each.  This is the least expensive I've seen spice shelves, and they make great display risers for collections.  For anyone who has the Billy bookcase system from IKEA, two of these spice shelves fit nicely on one of the Billy shelves.   The tiers are only a couple inches wide, so fit most g3s/g4s/smaller ponies best, but would also fit larger g1s if angled.   Here are some pics- sorry they are not the greatest!

One empty spice shelf- I think I'm going to cover up the gray rubber part with white tissue paper or wrapping paper.

Pony Corral / G1 Masquerade Shirt Found!
« on: October 20, 2014, 04:44:01 PM »
It's been a while since I found a G1 shirt with the classic line art, and I haven't seen this one posted before, so thought I'd share :)  I found this at an Saks Off 5th Outlet.  It was $19.99, and the sizes appear to run big:

Off Topic / PC MIB Breyers, MIB Puppy in My Pocket, and Ty Beanies
« on: May 18, 2014, 09:50:58 AM »
Looking for a PC on a few non-pony toys.  The beanies and Breyer dog will definitely be for sale, but I am still undecided on selling the horses and Puppy in My Pocket.    Sorry the photos are not the best, but any help is much appreciated!

Large lot 77 of Ty Beanies.   Most are never opened McDonalds beanies, with some regular sized bears and others, plus a larger beanie buddy, and hammock.
