Pony Corral / Re: Anyone Else Not Really Like The So Softs?

Such a tough call, tbh.  Gross flocking icks me right out, but when it's pristine... they were well-named as so softs!  I loved the colours and the palette for some of them... and had I had a daughter, I'd have loved a nursery themed around Lofty, Wind Whistler, and North Star.

I didn't like them as a kid and I don't like them now.  They are a horribly executed set.  It might have been alright if Hasbro had used the kind of flocking that, for example, Sylvanian Families toys have: very short, very easy to see through, and able to be wiped clean of surface dirt.

But instead they PILED on thick flocking that gets matted down and dirty so easily!  And after the flocking is dirty and matted that's it, it's done, it will never "fluff up" again.  I had so many So-Softs go through my hands where their symbols weren't even visible due to their dirt, and no amount of shampooing and soaping fixed it.

The 2nd set of So-Softs had much better (shorter) flocking that was easier to clean, but even on them I don't like the concept.  Wish they'd all been sold as "normal" ponies.

Ooo, with flocking like Sylvanian Families, they'd have been amazing!  Come on, someone - invent time travel so I can go back in time and rescue our So Softs from Hasbro's poor decision!

Hi there!

I have three ponies I'd love to have rehaired - they all came to me with most unfortunate haircuts. :(  Just curious if anyone is offering rehairing services at the moment...  Please pm me if you do (or know someone who does)!  Thank you! ^.^

Beautiful finds/acquisitions!  Especial congrats on reuniting Sandcastle and Shovels (it's one of my goals, too).  They're adorable together, and I love how Coco Berry and Powder are their mum and dad. ^.^

Sprinkles is so pretty!  She's an overlooked beauty, imo. :lovey:

Here they are, hanging out with my Pony Bride and Bridal Beauty.

Becca, could you please post a link to the claw guy's videos?  Ty!

I rounded up some of my little guy's plushies while we were cleaning his room.

(He was super chuffed with the Garfield - it's licensed and everything!)

This bunch is just what I found with no effort.  He has another bunch in the basement too, plus my few, and about two dozen or so he gave away at hospital, and another six we gave to VV just a couple weeks ago.  Mad skills with the claw machine!  (At least, until they adjusted it.)

When we find a fair playing claw, we may resume our conquest of the plushie nation, but until then, we enjoy our temporary truce with the snuggly spoils of war.

(Becca, do you play Coin Dozer?  I've never played a real life coin pusher, but it's addictive as all get-out!)

Never heard of it! Doesn't looks as much fun as a real coin pusher. They're so terribly addictive. I will have coins justttt on the edge and I run to go refill my card with credits in hopes of getting a few more.

It is a shame arcades aren't super popular. There's two Dave & Busters and one Main Event and I think maybe two other arcades at least an hours drive away from me. Lovin' all this love for claw machines, I'm not really good at them myself but they sure are fun.

I'd best stay far away from the real coin pushers, then... that app was far too much for me!  Same studio also does a claw machine app, and that's pretty fun, too.  Especially since they seemed to have tinkered with the claw strength on the machine my son and I were winning on so much, and now it hardly pays out at all. :/

I really, really miss arcades.  I took my son to one in MontrĂ©al, but it just isn't the same.  He's happier with his Nintendo and iPad; back when I had an Atari 2600 (gosh, Sugar, you're older than dirt!), the difference in graphics and gameplay made arcades a notch or two above home gaming.  Now, though, unless you like the dance games or riding the sim bikes or w/e, it isn't really as much of a much.  Wish they still had games-for-tickets places round here; those were fun and lucrative!

When my son's out of bed, I think I will collect all his claw plushies (and mine too) and snap a pic.  I'm all inspired now!

She's so pretty and colourful!  I just recently added her to my herd (thank you again, unicorn_pops!) and love her to bits! :lovey:  Plus, as someone who fancies herself as a (very, very amateur) artist, her symbol really appeals to me. ^.^

Sorry, no help on the price checks, but I just wanted to congratulate you on your new G2 herd!  Great start!  Idk about the rest of y'all, but I found them curiously addictive... ^.^

Pony Corral / Quick question re: g2 eye crystals
« on: August 27, 2016, 06:48:54 PM »
Hey there!

I seem to recall pp18 being the correct size of Swarovski crystals to replace missing g2 eye crystals... does anyone know the right size for the babies, though?  I got a Rumba and Samba who'd love to get their sparkles back. ^.^

Thanks!

Oh gosh, I should take a photo of allllllll the plushies my son and I won from claw machines over the last couple years.  We would go into hospital every month or so, and there was a pretty good claw machine at the Metro... we'd hit it coming and going, and sometimes get two or three at a go.  He was so sweet - he would give his extras to the kids who 'had it worse' than him! :lovey:  But we still wound up with enough to stock a claw machine of our own...

Other than that, I remember a fair amount of my misspent youth (haha) in arcades, playing Tetris and Strider and Bagman and my ultimate favourite, Bubble Bobble.

(Becca, do you play Coin Dozer?  I've never played a real life coin pusher, but it's addictive as all get-out!)
