Le Sigh... I so wanted in this swap, but with my luck lately...

I'm surprised at how many of you don't like modern times, I don't think there is a period of time I don't like. Just imagine a poor time traveler pony who only went back as far as yesterday... sitting down with their Samsung Galaxy Tab listening to Neon Trees while surfing Monster.com... fresh cup of premium coffee by their side...

Or maybe that's just what I wished I was doing...

Sorry Tinker I'd be happy to do a private time swap with someone after this ends, or maybe someone else out there missed and would like to do a private swap. I like modern times but I already have my pony in modern times. I think now is more interesting than the early 90's

TXGAl: I don't know if this helps at all, but I always sketch my ideas out. It helps me edit and tweak there when it's SOOO much easier to fix rather than trial and error on the 3-d thing. I almost never have to scrap something I've constructed, but I have scrapped MANY pony sketches

If you are not happy with your drawing skills, then TRACE! lightly trace the outline of a line-drawing pony from a coloring book or a printed coloring page. Then play with sloppy lines and rough sketching, lock your inner perfectionist up in a trunk if you have to. Once you kind of have a direction you are happy with, you can either erase or start with a new paper over your old one.

I'd show you mine, but that would give away the surprise! Sometimes I'm not in love with an idea until I sketch it and see it. Then it hits me!

Am I the only person who DOESN'T sketch out my ideas before I do them? I just have images in my head and run with them!

I have picked which of my parters ideas I want to do, and I have a rough idea of how to execute it (well, a very specific idea actually, but I need to do some research to check it matches the actual time/subject!) and I'm rareing to go! My bait arrived yesterday, and my new sculpting stuff, very excited!

I am probably just in the habit of sketching from costume designing, it's very, very expensive to screw up a costume so sketching is a must lots of people don't sketch

I don'y sketch when costuming either!! Just completed my first quad suit, that WOULD have been expensive to mess up!! Turned out awesome though, and was a big hit at the convention at the weekend!
