It's really a shame that it takes so much work to get a good-looking doll. I don't remember the toys from my own childhood (which was admittedly around 15 years ago) needing to be so scrutinized for a decent one.

Pretty much my thoughts exactly. I wonder, though, is that because the toys didn't have as many flaws then, or because as kids we just didn't really care as long as the toy still did what it was supposed to?

I do remember spending literally half an hour looking through a rack of talking Pikachu plushies when I was ten, trying to pick one that didn't have a doofy-looking face. Although that was more my personal preference for their faces rather than because they were flawed.
