i forgot about this one! i wish they'd used this model as well. i wonder if the softer, more "universal" face might have encouraged them to make more boys.

Every time I see new merch, I warm up to it a little more. I might grab Pipp and Zipp cause I looove the wings and the fact that Pipp has a pudgier body mold. Wish they were brushables though, and I'm hoping for a side character at least. It all feels similarly low-stakes to Y1 G4, I'll be curious to see what the post-movie line is like.

The molds are pretty cute here and the gimmicks are fun too. I hope Izzy's is as close to what she does in the movie as Sunny's and she just plays Frankenstein with cute animals alone in the woods all day.

I wonder if there's even going to be regular sized brushables without articulation in this line.
IIRC the sizes listed on the German catalog from a while ago implied roughly G4-sized ponies in a couple playsets? Hopefully they aren't just in playsets though

Seeing the styling Sunny with better shadows has me warming up to her a bit. Still not a huge fan of the head/neck but her muzzle is slightly more pronounced than what I originally thought. Plus if her hair actually looks like that then it's better than nearly all of G4.
The Pipp is actually really cute, but her head looks kinda dinky lol. I'm really curious to see what the core line looks like.

Ahh please tell me Pipp still has her lovely brown eyes? It's a little hard to tell... Those leaked plush had me really worried but I was hoping they were factory rejects...
didn't even consider that, it definitely looks like she has green eyes. her hair also looks more cool-toned like the smaller image on the bedsheets. maybe changed so her and zipp read better as siblings?

I would have loved to see a G4 manticore! An adult dragon closer the slim ones in S1 and Lauren's concept art would have been fun too. And of course, zebras/donkeys/kirins/etc.
As for pets, I do recall that G3 AJ came with a raccoon that I really adored. And I always really wanted a G3 Spike.
For G5, we're getting a flying pomeranian, and based on those German toy descriptions, Izzy's getting beetles. I hope the rest get pets as well!

relieved to see cutie marks on both sides. and excited to see that zipp has what looks to be a short-ish mane! looks like it might be a mullet lol? seen some speculation zipp is pipp's bowie-esque foil. given the names and the yellow crown motif on the cutie marks it seems kinda likely they are related. please hasbro give me a glam rock queen!

i... actually kind of love it. not enough to get a bunch of plastic bits i don't want, but if they ever released another figure/family set in horsier colors i'm not sure i would be able to resist.

interesting! i'm very curious about pipp- she's clearly not a regular pegasus, and the original post that leaked the names also mentioned that she was smaller. maybe she's the daughter of princess petals? i'm not trusting the rough draft posts either anymore lol.
kiiiinda disappointed about it looking like just a mane 5 with one boy. i'm predicting the toy line will be equal proportions of sunny/izzy/pipp, then a little less zipp, and then the occasional hitch toy.

I really doubt that. I'm thinking that they're just kids and also something with the magic.
In the animatic, we see a CM on both sides of the parent figure during a cutie mark scene.
Sunny and Izzy’s designer tweeted that she was bothered by the lack of cutie marks, which makes me think it was probably prompted by Hasbro later in development. I don’t think if it was a plot point she would have said anything as she’s still under a NDA.
I do wish there was a story reason for it, though.  “Corporate cost-cutting” is the worst answer for everything.
I do think there's got to be a story reason because they toys seem to still have them. Just maybe it's something newer writers tacked on later. Like most of the FIM Cutie Mark stuff was added by later writers and had nothing to do with Faust's original idea.
In the animation posted on FB you can see when Sunny jumps into frame that there's no mark on her left side, but she does have one on her right. It seems a lot more likely that Hasbro told the CGI team to leave cutie marks off the left to match the toys than a "getting your second cutie mark" story to be written in, but it'll be a pleasant surprise if they did, lol.
