I'm giving some serious s thought to dippng my toe into the world of bjd's. Anyone have any experience with Aimerai dolls?  I'm totally smitten by their Virginia.

I hope it comes back as well. I did most of my Arena browsing with Tapatalk and I honestly check the Arenas a lot less often now without it.

Same here.  :(

I'd love to grab another carte blanche faceup spot next time jointed love opens up - it was really fun to let her do her thing.

I've done a few custom ponies that way. I call them the "do you trust me?" projects.

I just got a message from another seller that she left feedback for the other day. This is part of what they said. "She is trying to extort refunds and keep all the items."

That's exactly what I was thinking she was doing.  She's hoping that with leaving the bad feedback, she's going to get at least a partial refund offer from the sellers.

I've done two carousel ponies.  One of them used the same technique as NoD's pony - wooden dowel and clay and a base.  The other one was also done with a dowel, but the "pole" was inserted through the lid of a wooden box, with the box becoming the entire base.

Customs / Symbiote Spiderman, Venom, and SF Giants ponies!
« on: February 11, 2015, 05:56:02 PM »
Long time, no see, eh?  I bought a house, and have only started finishing some projects within the last couple of weeks.

First up would be Venom and Spiderman.  I was commissioned to make a black-suited symbiote Spiderman, and while looking for a bait to do that one, I found another bait in a pose that just begged to be turned into Venom.

Both were painted with airbrush paints, sealed with Dullcote, and rooted with DH's Brilliant Black nylon hair, and have been given a good helping of Triple Thick gloss on their eyes.  Venom's tongue was sculpted from Apoxie, and has a disgustingly realistic helping of dripping saliva.

While Spidey is going off to his new home this weekend, once I can dig out of the snow, Venom is available for $45, which includes shipping in the US.

I also was commissioned to make a San Fransisco Giants pony, but was asked to give her paint job like the last Harley Quinn pony that I'd made for the same buyer.

She's been painted with airbrush and acrylic paints, sealed with Dullcote, and has her eyes glossed.  Her hair is Brilliant Black and Marmelade.

Bonus:  Twisted Alice
This was the pony from the Twisted Fairy Tale swap last summer.  I don't think that I ever posted pictures of her here.

She had a sculpted corset with a heart-shaped, velvet gown.  Her hair was a blend of two shades of DH Nylon (sorry, I can't remember which two I had blended) which I had dip-dyed a deep red.  She had her own little background story as well.

I also have this problem.  I would say that around 30% of my eBay buyers never pay and those who give an explanation always say their kid did it!  If that many kids are being allowed to run around the internet without adult supervision, I'm worried for the next generation.

My biggest problem right now though is somebody who claims she "accidentally bought the wrong pony for a friend because she knows nothing about them".  (Well, if that's the case, almost everything she buys on eBay is for her "friend", judging by her feedback which all state how much she loves the pony she just bought!)  She wants me to cancel the transaction.  In all honesty, I didn't see her message until after I'd already opened a non-paying bidder case against her.  Then she turned on me, demanding I "close the case and tell eBay she's paid so that she doesn't get a mark against her account"!  (So I should pay fees for her error?!)

Now today she's paid for the pony with a note saying that I am not to post it and am to refund her as soon as I get online.  Not sure what to do.  I've explained to her about fees but apparently she still thinks I should pay for her mistake.  I suppose eBay would side with her though so I don't have much choice.  Not a good time for me when I am already in debt...eBay's been costing me more in fees with issues like this than I've been making lately, and with no other income, it's getting really difficult. :(  I wish incompetent people would take responsibility for their own errors.
I'd mail it to her anyway.  She bid, she paid, and I don't see how they could side with her when you've done nothing wrong.  Document everything on the condition of the pony when you send it, send it with tracking/confirmation, and I'd think she'd be hard pressed to have a legit claim.

Those priority envelopes are NOT for sending anything fragile in!  What the hell!?

I had someone once send me 7 wingers in a Priority envelope, and not even this type, but they jammed them into one of the flat-rate cardboard document mailers and charged me double what the actual postage was.  I think some people are just lazy and greedy - they don't want to do anything more than the bare minimum to get it shipped, and want to ship it the cheapest way possible to avoid fees and keep some profit.

Why don't you get one? As bjds go she's rather low priced.
I know I wouldn't appreciate her like y'all do with your dolls.  I'd unbox her and dress her, take one picture and that'd be it.  She'd sit at the back of my display case full of custom ponies and never see the light of day ever again.

I am so jealous.  I have no dolls and I don't foresee myself ever owning any, but she's been my grail since I first saw her last year sometime.

Got a lovely pony last night!  Will post some feedback when I get out of work!

14
Nope, it's quite normal feeling.  There's a tiny bit of stiffness right at the immediate base of it.

15
Now that is an interesting piece!
So Resin was poured into the pony? Is it only in the legs or a bit further up too?
Her lower half is filled.  I filled her to just above her legs, let it cure a bit, installed the tail, then filled the rest.  I initially planned for some cutting on the body as well, but decided against it.
