Being a few thousand miles away I cant help with the first question
But on the tinsel you have a few options...
1) Taking a pair of tweezers and "pulling" each individual tinsel strand carefully from its the base - this will straighten tinsel surprisingly well although not completely remove crinkles
2) Flat iron - keep the tinsel and hair as wet as possible and have conditioner through it - flat iron at a low heat, a small area at a time and move quickly - dont ever let the heat build up - this process is done with the risk of hair melting or the metal coating coming off the tinsel
3) Clothes iron - again damp hair with conditioner - place the hair between 2 layers of cold damp cloth [such as a pillow case] and iron over the hair. Again keep the cloth and the hair damp. Dont allow heat to built up and move the iron quickly - you can spray the pillow with water throughout the process to keep it wet.
Good luck!
