While I'm not interested at all  in the "grey peg" I can see the frustration on her fans.

I think the reason on why they made her so limited is because the big controversy wit her, that were afraid to give a store release that would require her a name 

Personally I think it would have being better if they gave her a store release and change the controversial  name, to a more "pony like" name to prevent what happened now., it is a nasty situation

Sounds like they really dropped the ball on this one. I understand what the mind set is behind limited edition but seeing as how well the fair did they should have thought better.

Hasbro was at the fair. They saw the response to the grey peg, they knew the popularity so much so they gave ditzy cameos in the show. They should have sent more to Comic Con. Bring more ponies = get more money = would still be limited because even with all the scalpers taking as much as they could, pony lovers and collectors missed out.

I was there today! Yeah, I had friends who said the same thing. I was over trying to get scarah. with my encounters with Hasbro's customer service, I wasn't exactly surprised. They aren't a very nice bunch when it comes to stuff like that ( in my experience at least).  Though, I DID really like the steam punk rainbow dash bags they had!

I just looked, and my ebay seller sold 8 presales of her. They still haven't contacted me back as to whether they were able to get her for me or not..... but I have a sinking feeling it's not going to happen.

Unlikely. Hasbro is compulsive, every pony will be made into a figure. I mean, they even made a figure of that Star Wars random background rebel who's carrying that weird ice cream maker thing.

However, if a pony attracts substantial controversy (in this case, Ditzy from those people who saw that episode opening as a lowbrow insult at the mentally challenged, then from the bronies when Hasbro tried to change it), then it is more unlikely that the pony will see a release. Because from a business viewpoint, if you can't please either one fan base without drawing scathing fire from the other, the best thing to do is to please neither- which draws less damage from both end.

Have you actually seen the list of background ponies on the FiM wiki? Its totally insane. I doubt Hasbro would make a pony out of every single one, and with their views of "girls ONLY like pink" I really really doubt we'd have gotten a random gray pony unless it was a blind bag.

All of the background ponies that were getting a high level of attention from fans are getting more attention by Hasbro. Ditzy Doo, Dr. Hooves, Octavia, and DJ-P0N-3/Vinyl Scratch were simply nothing but nameless background characters and because Hasbro took note of this, they are starting to stand out. All but Ditzy Doo are fan names that are now trademarked by Hasbro. Lyra was also coined by the fandom and was added to Heartstring's full name.
