My friend runs a rattery and she is letting me adopt a boy to go with my other two teenage rats who are distant cousins to the babies below. I'm having a hard time picking because both rats are sooooo cute!
Will you please vote in my poll and comment to help me decide? Thanks!
Grunkle Stan is a laid back rex dumbo, likely to have himmie/Siamese coloring after first molt.

Bill Cipher is an energetic and outgoing rex top ear variberk downunder.

I've never seen a Rat with such a mouse like face!! They are both quite cute, but I was totally convinced that Grunkle Stan was a mouse when I saw the picture!
-
I was just having this exact convo with his breeder. He is so delightfully mouse sized at the moment which just adds to the effect
-
Grunkle Stan.
The energetic and outgoing ones are likely to build a death star out of discarded things around your house if you take your eyes off them for a second.
-
Isn't that the truth! They are strange and mysterious creatures to be sure.
I see you are from Pittsburgh. I'm the only non-native in the family and I think it is an amazing town. How do you like it up there?
-
It's very difficult to choose because they're both adorable, but I voted for Grunkle Stan because dumbo rats are just *so cuddly!*
-
They really are although my current one is a non-snuggler unless I put him in a scarf first lol. They are super cute though.
-
I don’t know much about rats, so I’m in no way qualified to pick. But if I had to choose, I’d go with grunkle Stan. The mouse face and the large ears kinda convince me. And laid back mellow rats.
-
Dipper would be my first choice, but of the two you listed, I'd go with the Downunder one, Bill. Grunkle just looks like a PEW, and could fade out just as much as get points.
-
I vote for Bill hes sooooo cute!!
-
Grunk does have some nice ears!
Dipper is the favorite of my coworkers but my friend is likely keeping him for breeding down the road.
Bill is a sweet little thing. You can tell he has a head for mischief lol
-
Grunkle Stan! I don't care what color he turns out, he's super-cute!
-
Get them both!
They are super cute
-
Get both! Rats are social animals and do best with a rattie roommate.
-
I may end up with both! I'm hoping when I go to make my final selection that one of them gives me some sort of sign
I already have two boys, dragonfly, but I think a trio works the best, hence me trying to choose one more!
-
I can't see pics, but I'd definitely say both. When in doubt, always both of them! :)
You already have some older ones, so if you get both of those at the same age, that would be great!
Ohhhhh, I miss having rats .....
-
They are wonderful, aren't they? I have long admired the cuties in your sig.
-
Rats are so fun! I voted for Grunkle but I think either option would be great! Or get both!
-
I had to also go with Grunkle Stan. (I love himmie/siamese coloration.)
-
Did you decide? Have been following and waiting to see lol
-
I'm going over this weekend to make a choice and take him home with me. I still haven't decided. Grunkle seems so sweet but Cipher is so beautiful. I am hoping one of them will give me a sign. I'll def post on Monday! Thanks for following, I get invested in stuff like this too ;)
-
It looked like Grunkle won the poll but I took Cipher home with me <3 Grunkle went to a nice couple wearing pony shirts so he will be well loved too! Thanks to all that helped with this choice.
Sadly one of my rats isn't taking to little Cipher. I tried bathtub intros as well as using homemade vanilla extract to mask scent. I hope I can sort out the drama because it is so stressful and I just want all my little buddies to be happy!
-
How lovely for the both of them. But don’t give up about your little guys. I’m positive they will become friends soon enough. It just might be a little new guy aggression. I have no idea how you’re supposed to introduce rats to other rats safely. But if it’s anything like dogs, let your other eat know you still love him. Let him eat first and stuff I guess. Do rats have a social hierarchy? Just don’t treat this newcomer like the new alpha I guess. That’s one way to store trouble...
-
Yes, they do have a dominance hierarchy. The rat having issues is rather odd and doesn't really act like a normal rat about things which makes it harder. I'm going to try another intro tonight. The new guy seems to be getting on well with my other rat but they still have a ways to go. I can't wait to watch everyone snuggle happily together.
-
I went back to step one and started another reintroduction and that seems to have worked. Thanks again, everyone, I am so happy! :sqs: :hamster:
