I am one of those collectors aiming for a pony from every country. Unfortunately given the way prices have skyrocketed since I last chased Nirvanas on ebay, its not looking like a goal I'll ever reach. But I'll keep looking!

Argentina - yes
Brazil - yes
Colombia - yes
France - yes
Greece - yes
Hong Kong/China ‘error’ ponies (eg. Reverse Gusty, Princesses and Happy Tail oddities) - yes
India - yes
Italy - yes
Japan - do the Jun Planning keychain mini ponies count? If so, yes, if not, no.
Macau - yes
Mexico - yes
Peru - yes
South Africa - no
Spain - yes
No Country - yes
Thailand (Mountain Boys only) - no, since we're not counting fancy pants babies
Venezuela - yes, assuming squeaky butts count

I've been chasing South African ponies for a very long time, but the price has never been right for me. More power to those who find them and/or can afford them, I still enjoy seeing your pictures and dreaming!

Definitely interested! I live on the northern end of Allegheny County, but I have a car, and assuming no family responsibilities for that weekend, I'd love to go!

There are four known adult Argie Moondancer variants:

white with pink hair
white with green hair
white with blue hair
white with rainbow hair

From observation over the years, the blue hair variant is the hardest to get. I've only seen maybe 3 or 4 in the last 20 years, and I don't know how many of those are the same one changing hands over and over again. The rainbow one doesn't come up for auction much either and is very sought after. There's a handful of green hair variants out there, and the pink is very common.

There's also a bunch of argie baby Moondancers - can someone help with those variants?

I remember picking my son up from preschool one summer day four years ago and seeing a whole kid's tub filled with Sea Wees, including a few that I knew were really rare and worth $$. I mentioned it in passing to the teacher and she said it was her collection from when she was a kid and the kids really enjoyed playing with them when they did water play time outdoors. Remarkably, they looked like they were in great shape, which is notable because my son's preschool was specifically for special needs kids. (He's on the autism spectrum, and many of the kids in his class had learning and/or behavioral issues.)

For the record, I told her there were collectors that would buy them on ebay if she ever wanted to part with them, but also that I was happy that my son got to play with one of the same toys I grew up with. :) I think a lot of times these old toys end up in day cares and preschools because the teachers pass them right down the line to the kids in the class.

She's gorgeous! I've been hunting one for about ten years, but no luck. That's a great price for a lovely rare pony in wonderful condition. Congratulations!

I had a minty baby Salty sea pony once that had a bright pink price sticker on her. She has a bright pink circle on her right where it was removed. :( Sometimes it's not something you'd expect that makes the mark. (I suspected it might be a problem when I bought the pony, but it was only $3. But if it hadn't been on there when I bought it, I never would have figured it out.)

I bought an orange wand a year or two ago at a local toy show, so I know they're out there. But I don't remember if there was ever a consensus as to which pony it came with. Mine looks just like yours.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate it! Do you know where sticker stock can be bought? I'm thinking maybe a craft store, but if it's something more specialized, I'll see what I can find.

Price Check Archives / PC G1 Puffy and flat stickers + castle carrying case
« on: February 22, 2014, 04:24:26 PM »
I bought this on a hunch at Christmas time but have not had the chance to get a good look at it until recently. It's a G1 castle carrying case - the one with two rows for ponies (total of 12 spots) and a separate section below for pony wear. It's in good shape except the yellow handle on top is cracked in the middle to the point of almost but not quite broken.

I wouldn't normally bother with it, but on the inside its previous owner had stuck 30 of the puffy and flat G1 pony (and ponywear) stickers from their collection. Unfortunately it did not come with those ponies, but I seem to recall there's some interest in them, so I thought I'd ask.

(It also came with six ponies - CF Butterscotch, FF Cotton Candy, Braided Beauty, Starshine, Moondancer, and Sugar Apple, but I'm pretty sure Sugar Apple is the only one of those possible worth more than a couple of bucks.)

Anyhow, here's the list:

Puffy stickers: Flutterbye, Trickles, Starflower, Pinwheel, Baby Firefly, Baby Surprise, Baby Blossom, Baby Moondancer. Also the following Pony Wear stickers: Party Time, Something Old Something New, Prima Ballerinas.

Flat stickers (not puffy, but the kind that came with a pony): Scrumptious, Wind Whistler, Shady, Magic Star, Twist, Ribbon, Bouncy, Skippity Doo, Fifi, Buttons, Gusty, Hippity Hop, Lofty, Sweetpop, Truly, North Star, Cherries Jubilee, Molly & Baby Sundance, plus pony wear Having A Luau.

Most of them look to be in pretty good shape. The Trickles sticker is coming apart but still in one piece, and the corner of Having A Luau has torn off, but the rest are great. Of course, I'd have to remove them (unless someone wanted to buy the whole thing!), so there's still potential for trouble.

If anyone can give me some ideas or point me towards a good price guide, I'd be very grateful. Thanks!

Pony Corral / Re: Boysenberry Pie - variant query

It's definitely a difference of US vs UK (probably Europe, but I don't know for certain) releases. I have both variants, and the dark HK came from a US seller, whereas I got the lighter China version in a big lot from the UK many years ago.

Congrats on your first variant!

That's a Yellow Moondancer. I've seen enough authentic Yellow Moondancers (HK and Italy) compared to yellowed HK Moondancers to be certain. I would bet my alternate birthflower pony on it. :)

Regarding location: I bought a Yellow Moondancer from Australia, and I've seen at least one from sale from New Zealand as well. Since the alternate birthflowers were sold there, is it possible Yellow Moondancer was sold in Australia? The person I bought my mint-y Yellow Moondancer from on ebay years ago was not a collector and had no idea of what she had for sale. :)

Then again, I found a UK Daffodil many years ago at a San Jose flea market, so ponies certainly can travel.

Congratulations! You've had the find of a lifetime! :)

Pony Corral / Re: gauging interest: Pennsylvania Pony Meet in 2014
« on: August 15, 2013, 09:08:45 AM »
I would love to go, but I wouldn't be able to know for certain until much closer to the date next year. Since I live north of Pittsburgh, it would likely be close to a 4.5 hour drive for me, which means I'd probably try to drive in the night before and make a weekend of it. But since I have two kids, I'd either have to bring both or find someone to stay with them. (In theory my husband could do it, but he never knows when he'll be called into work on a weekend. Fortunately, we do have family nearby.) So anywhere from 1 adult to 2 adults 2 kids.

Now going from there... I'd be more than happy to pay some sort of admission fee to help pay for what's needed. Since it's a long drive for me, I'd be unable to make food, but maybe I could figure something out like picking up drinks nearby or something.

I've been to MLP Fair twice, and a few informal meets back when I lived in California. I'd love to try to make this work if at all possible!

MLP Nirvana / Re: Who is this mystery pony?

It's a Sparkler and Sunny Bunches hybrid! (Or the coloring is wonky, but then the diamonds should be white rather than green.) Weird but so cool! Can't wait to see!

I've tried every trick in the book. Close all apps, put it in airplane mode, and then do a total shutdown of the iPad (holding down the home and power buttons at the same time), still no good. In theory I have a backup of my older save file on my Mac laptop, but I don't know if I care enough to bother. Other than the "Raise new ponies to 5 stars!" quests in Canterlot, I was in aquarium mode, so I got about as much out of it as I probably could.

Still a little sad about it, though.
