Wave 5 BB quality control? (these were found in the UK)
« on: September 15, 2012, 01:35:16 PM »
Hi all,

So, how excited was I to walk into Toys-R-Us and two meters into the store there was a whole load of Yellow blind bags??? Well, I actually jumped and squeaked a little

I spent a good 15 minutes having to sort through them as there were two boxes merged into one. Then I spent a while checking with management if this purchase qualified for a free single pony (spend over £25 offer, which they agreed it would and did it for me yay :satisfied:)

So then I get home, open them up and three had major paint flaws. Where the hair was painted it was either all over the pony's face/ears, or the colours were splashed over each other instead of being distinct. I was so upset.

Obviously they are now in line to be replaced but has anyone else had problems with their BB ponies? It just seems so obvious that it's a shame they've ended up in the bags anyway. I'm sure for a couple they could have just repainted them.

That's really a shame  :( I haven't had any problems with badly painted blind bags so I can't really help. I did see though that you are just across the border from me! I wonder if they will make it over the Severn bridge  ;)

None of my wave 3 are dodgy, and my wave 4 lot are all lovely and glittery. It's such a shame that some of these seemed to have slipped the net.
I was so excited to see them in the shop though, I thought I'd have to wait longer before finding them. It's certainly worth going and having a look for them ^_^

Wave 5 found in the uk?!!!!!!! :dribble:

I've had shoddy quality issues with EVERY blind bag from wave one to 4, to the point where I sold one on eBay and the buyer said it had teeth marks all over it. I literally took it out of the bag to sell..... Teeth marks?!!!!

I'm actually tempted to go to Bristol to look for them, it might be easier than getting to the TRU in Cardiff! It's in a stupid far away place that's hard to get to without a car.

Thats such a shame you were disappointed but amazing that you found wave 5 - thats the first time I have heard them spotted in the UK - congrats!

Quality is pretty poor on the line as a whole unfortunately. When you consider the size of the product, the price point and the sheer number of different characters they are churning out I am not stunned by quality issues. The target market for the toys remains children and pocket money quality - unfortunately we cant expect collectors standards when these factors remain.

I do agree with that, but it's just that they are quite obvious flaws that gets me. For example it doesn't bother me on the white ponies where the hair hasn't been painted right up to the hairline. That really doesn't matter to me as I'm sure it is hard to do such small work quickly and well. But Lyra Heartstrings has green and white hair and there are white lines going off onto the green part. It just needed a touch up with the green again and it would have been fine.

Whoops. I don't mean to post a negative first find type post! I am really pleased to have them, and I can easily buy them again. It's just a shame when you're really excited to get something and then there are little issues.

Mind you I was quite a fussy child with keeping toys in order and not messing them up so I wouldn't damage them so maybe it's stemming from that

I think you are perfectly entitled to be disappointed :)

I honestly just think until Hasbro starts making toys for adults in the MLP line and in the collector price range, issues will remain. We suffered through QC issues throughout G3 - I found it easier to accept I was buying a relatively inexpensive toy and live with it rather than get annoyed...otherwise I would have returned everything...and with G4 quality does seem much much worse!

I hope you manage to track down better replacements :)

That is sad to hear :( I would also be very upset about it. You spend your hard earn money on something and you want it to at least look nice.

I got all the blind bags released in the US. Only real issue I have is that my glow in the dark Twilight has a few dark spots inside her tail. Glow Rarity has a small black mark on her cheek but I pretend it's just a beauty mark. It seems the quality is going down with the newer ponies.

Ohh, that's not good. Do you think you'll try and replace them?

I know, it's such a shame - bless their little pony hearts.

Heehee that's a cute idea

Honestly probably not.  It's bad enough I will probably customize them.  I'm not a huge collector anyway but some of them might as well be blank flanks they are very poorly constructed.  I'll probably wipe them and then customize.

It's not good at all really. But at least they will find a new lease of life with you :cheer:
